What a fantastic weekend for the Port Pirie Equestrian Club! 🐎☀️

We had an amazing time camping at the York Peninsula Equestrian Club and exploring beautiful Pt Hughes and Moonta. From arena rides and cross-country bush bashing to a relaxing beach ride/walk at Port Hughes Beach, it was the perfect mix of fun and adventure.

Sunday morning we joined the York Peninsula Equestrian Club Trail Ride, with a great stop Coffee Barn Gelateria Moonta ☕🍦

Great people, lots of laughs, and the weather couldn’t have been better. We’re already looking forward to doing it again! 🐴

Thanks to the YPEC for their hospitality and accommodating us at their lovely horse friendly facilities 💕💕

A great morning of learning long reining. I'm sure apart from the march flies everyone enjoyed the morning.

Next Saturday at the PORT PIRIE EQUESTRIAN CLUB INC. I will be running a long reining session from 10.30am.
Don’t worry if you don’t have long reins I’ll bring some you can have a try with!
I’ll demonstrate with a couple of horses and explain why and what and how and then we can have a go and I can assist.
All you need is a halter or bridle and a roller or saddle (or we can manage without) and a bit of enthusiasm and decent shoes you can walk in.
Long reining is great for young and old horses whether or not you want to drive!
Day membership is available, fence sitters welcome.

Photos are of my warmblood stallion Kinnordy Rilke, now 16 years old who is a harness horse and has also done dressage, show jumping and been hunted. He had a huge amount of time and training in hand in long reins with and without a bitted bridle and can piaffe in hand and perform all his lateral work in long reins.

Port Pirie Equestrian Club Beach Camp – 20th to 22nd March 2026

Port Pirie Equestrian Club invites members and friends to join us for a fun-filled equestrian camp on the Yorke Peninsula 20/21st March 2026.

📍 Location: • York Peninsula Equestrian Club – Marshall Rd, Moonta Mines.
📅 Dates:
Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd March 26.

The York Peninsula Equestrian Club facilities include showers, toilets, and kitchen amenities, with full access to the equestrian club grounds. Limited horse yards. Riders will be able to make use of the cross-country course, dressage arenas, and pole work/jumping equipment throughout the weekend.

Itinerary :

Arrive Friday afternoon and settle in.

• Saturday: Beach ride and swim.
Meeting at the Pt Hughes bottom car park at 9.00am.
Returning in the afternoon for free time to enjoy and use the grounds and equipment. (This could switch around weather depending )
Saturday night we’ll head out together for dinner at the local pub or Cafe Capella’s.

• Sunday: Beach ride at 9:00am, Pt Hughes bottom car park including a ride and swim. Riders can return to the grounds before heading home.

💰 Camping Costs:
• $30 per horse and rider, per night.
• Additional people: $10

Payment is to be made to the

We’d love to see you there for a great weekend of riding, beach fun, and good company so bring your swags/tents and partners. Those that aren’t interested in riding may bring their golf clubs, fishing rods, or tour the area 😉

Great fun at the beach this morning.
Some had a good ride along the beach and then in the water.
As for Henry and Eppy [not sure of the spelling here Tanya] first time out, enjoyed lots of splashing in the knee high water. Can't wait till next time.
