Get excited Port Pirie!
The Picnic falls again during the school holidays, so we are expecting a huge crowd, and we have some great ideas up our sleeves.
The Smelters Picnic Committee is already hard at work on your big day out but it's not too late to join us and volunteer some time to deliver an awesome day.
Contact the chairman Jack Keain on 0438 365 029 if you'd like to be a part of the team. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a great attitude.

👏 CELEBRATING COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS - HELEN & SUE JACOBS! 👏

Port Pirie Regional Council proudly recognises Helen Jacobs and Sue Jacobs as recipients of Certificates of Merit for their incredible dedication to the Smelters Picnic fundraising efforts.

Together, this dynamic mother-daughter duo has helped raise around $10,000 annually through weekly Bingo sessions – a vital contribution that keeps this iconic community event alive and thriving.

🌟 Helen Jacobs
Helen assists with Bingo competitions and prepares afternoon tea for patrons each week, creating a welcoming atmosphere that brings people together.

🌟 Sue Jacobs
For the past 11 years, Sue has co-hosted Sunday Bingo sessions with her mother, all while working full-time as a personal care assistant. Her homemade treats are a favourite among patrons and add a special touch to every event.

Their generosity, commitment, and teamwork embody the true spirit of Port Pirie. Congratulations Helen and Sue – your efforts make a lasting impact!

Certificates of Merit will be presented at the Port Pirie New Year’s Eve celebrations to be held at the Port Pirie Foreshore on Wednesday 31 December 2025.
