From 1 July 2026, Lifeline Regional SA and Far West NSW will no longer be providing a free face-to-face counselling service in Port Pirie. Until then, we will continue to operate as usual, and you are able to contact us on (08) 7079 1460

Lifeline Regional SA and Far West NSW will focus its energies in providing free mobile and walk-in, face-to-face services from its other Connect Centres at 1 Blanche Street Clare (08 8842 2827) and Broken Hill, ensuring that we are providing help where it is needed the most.

Lifeline Regional SA and Far West will continue to have a strong presence in the region with our retail stores in Port Pirie and Port Augusta, the Pt Pirie garage and book shed. These services assist the community by providing recycled goods and inexpensive quality items to raise funds to support our counselling and training services.

For further assistance, please contact:

* Medicare Mental Health Centre located at 129 Ellen St, between 9-5 Monday to Friday for free face-to-face mental health support. The centre is a welcoming space for anyone to access free mental health, social and emotional wellbeing support.
* Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Mental Health Triage on 13 14 65 for urgent assistance.
* Medicare Mental Health phone service on 1800 595 212 (available Monday to Friday 8:30-5:00, excluding public holidays) for services available in the wider community. Medicare Mental Health phone service is a free confidential mental health, social and emotional wellbeing service and is available for anyone in Australia. The Mental Health phone service can help you find the care that aligns to your needs, goals, offer guidance if you are concerned about someone, and connect you to local mental health supports, either over the phone or online.

This week is National Volunteer Week - a time to recognise and celebrate the valuable work of volunteers across Australia.
I have been a volunteer at the Lifeline Connect Centre in Port Pirie for the past six months. I am really enjoying the connections I make with many people in this role and feel privileged to be part of a vital service which helps so many people in times of need.
The benefits of volunteering are two way - it feels good knowing I am contributing and helping others.

Lifeline Connect proudly stands in support of the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination, IDAHOBIT Day. πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’š

17th May marks the date in 1990 that homosexuality was officially removed from the World Health Organisations Classification of Diseases. More than 30 years later, LGBTQIA+ communities still face discrimination, stigma, barriers to support and disproportionally high mental health and su***de rates.

At Lifeline Connect, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, heard, and valued for who they are and that together we can help create more inclusive, understanding, and compassionate communities.

Stand up against discrimination, celebrate diversity, and show our LGBTQIA+ friends, family, colleagues, and community members that they are seen and supported on the 17th May by wearing something rainbow and sharing posts like this.

Because connection, kindness, and acceptance can change lives. 🌈

We love this message from ifarmwell.com.auπŸ’š

πŸ‘Ÿ Staying active and connected can make a real difference to our mental wellbeing. Why not take this weekend as a chance to check in with a mate and get moving together?

Or join a local Saturday Park Run at Port Pirie, Clare, Port Broughton or Jamestown?

https://www.parkrun.com.au/

Did you know that exercise is one of the simplest, safest and most effective ways to improve your mood, and that it can even prevent depression from coming back, if you have experienced it in the past?

This weekend, why not try to organise a 30-minute walk with a mate? It will be good for both of you! If your mate is a human (rather than a dog!) tag them on this post right now, to get the ball rolling.
