Snakes are out and about! Please be careful when walking your pets.

TICKS ARE KILLING OUR PETS! Tick treatment is a must and should be administered according to directions. Our vets had 4 dogs admitted to hospital over 2 days. Please, please protect your precious pets.

Nigel, Pat and Wendy would like to thank everyone who visited their fundraising stall outside the back entrance to Settlement City today. And yes! It was a bit "chilly", but we were warm enough, and it's important that we raise money to support our dogs in our care. We appreciate your patronage via donations, purchases and kind words. See you all again on Friday, 5th June.

I'm just sitting on my lounge with my dogs, feeling very warm and comfortable. Dogs have their favourite winter coats on and I thought I would remind everyone to keep their pets warm on these chilly days. It's especially cold for short haired dogs, keep them inside with you if possible.

I have seen many posts questioning owners walking their dogs in the middle of the day, when the sun is directly overhead and at its hottest. Why do idiot owners continue to do this? No one seems to be able to find a good reason. Although I am tempted to voice my concerns, I hold back because of the insults that most likely would be thrown at me. Please, if you love your dog, don't drag it out on these hot days.

I can't believe the number of owner's that take their dogs out walking in the middle of the day. It is way tooooo hot!! Your dogs should be left at home, inside the house is preferable, and not out walking on the HOT Footpaths where their feet are going to fry!!! Take your shoes off and walk in your bare feet and find out what it feels like. HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE PLEASE!

Midcoast Dog Resue would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2026. We are looking forward to a new year where dogs are treated more like part of the family than disposable objects. Remember, your pets have feelings too and just want to love you unconditionally. We are lucky to have them in our life! We will continue to pick up the pieces when we can.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
Our beautiful permanent foster-care poodle Merlot recently had 10 teeth extracted. With our vet advising further extractions likely in 6 month's time. This amounted to a vet bill of $1450.00 which we did not expect and were unprepared for.
In more than 23 years of Dog Rescue we have never been in such an embarrassing financial situation until now.
All donations will help - even the smallest amounts add up!
We know things are tough with everyone, so there is no pressure at all to donate.
