208 Army Cadet Unit - Port Macquarie

On the 18th of August 2026 Cadets from 208ACU gathered at the Port Macquarie Cenotaph alongside veterans for Vietnam Veterans Day, to honour those who fought. With that day marking the 60th year since the Battle of Long Tan.

The Cadets formed a Catafalque and banner Party for the Ceremony.

From the 7/8/26 to the 9/8/26, Cadets from 208 ACU participated in Exercise Chicane at the 208 ACU barracks. Over the course of Friday and Saturday Cadets learnt the purpose and how to run a vehicle checkpoint before independently running one.

Cadets then learnt Radio communications and how to operate a command post, how to set up shelters effectively and First Aid skills , which they then applied in a simulation Mass Casulty situation.

On sunday Cadets participated in physical activities such as the beep test and a game of touch football.

Thank you to the ACS and senior Cadets for planning the activities and making sure the weekend went smoothly and that the Cadets had fun.

From 7/8/26 to 9/8/26, Cadets from 208ACU participated in Exercise Chicane held at 208 ACU barracks. Over the course of the weekend the Cadets participated in a wide variety of practical activities.

Most notable are when the Cadets learnt how to Run a vehicle checkpoint, within this they learnt how to stop, direct and inspect a vehicle after which they applied to a practical scenario of running a vehicle checkpoint independently.

Along with this they learnt radio communications which they used in independently running a command post and First Aid which combined with radio skills was used in Simulated Mass Casulty situation.

At the end of the weekend, the Cadets participated in physical activities such as the beep test and a game of touch football.

Thank you to the cadet staff and senior Cadets for planning and running the Exercise and making sure the Cadets were safe and having fun.

Tonight 20BN announced there new BN RSM, CDTWO1 E.Rooney, hes has been the 216ACU CSM for 1 year, he will now continue to parade at 216 as there CSM, but will work along side the BN team.

Congratulations to all the Cadets who got promoted last Monday (20/7/26). These Cadets have proven themselves on course and at the unit, to be reliable, competent and they have shown strong leadership skills. We look forward to seeing these Cadets but there knowledge and skills to use as leaders
