💦💪Training with Camden Haven 💪💦

Last week some of our volunteer crew met with the Camden Haven unit at sea, so we could get them familiar with crossing the Port Macquarie bar.⚓️🌊

After a few bar crossings the team decided to practice towing, so Camden Heaven put our rescue vessel PM30 under tow for another bar crossing.🪢🛟

This was a great day and allowed the crew from both units to get together and learn some skills.🧭🗺

Thank you Marine Rescue Camden Haven for visiting!

Port Macquarie 30 was drifting approximately 1NM offshore yesterday conducting training when a whale paid our volunteer crew a visit, surfacing right beside the rescue vessel.

Thankfully, PM 30 was already drifting, allowing our crew to enjoy this special encounter.

If a whale approaches your vessel or surfaces nearby, immediately cut your engine, slow to a safe speed and wait for the whale to move on.

🛟🔬 Marine Rescue: The Science Behind Saving Lives at Sea 🔬🛟

Last Saturday, our unit opened its doors to the community to explore the science, technology and teamwork behind saving lives at sea!

🎤 Our volunteers hosted a range of expert talks and hands-on demonstrations, including:

🚨 Flares, liferafts and firefighting equipment demos
📡 The technology rescuers use to locate people quickly
👩‍✈️ What it’s really like to be a woman working in the marine industry

There were also lots of fun, hands-on activities to keep the whole family entertained while learning a little more about marine safety and the science behind our operations. 🛟

A huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the day possible. 💙

It was fantastic to welcome the community into our unit and share a little more about what we do and what goes on behind the scenes when the call for help comes in.
