🔥 Tonight we welcomed Senior Firefighter, Pete Martin from Fire & Rescue NSW, who delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the safe use and disposal of lithium-ion batteries. 🪫

Pete highlighted the increasing number of fires caused by damaged, faulty or incorrectly charged lithium-ion batteries, commonly found in e-bikes, e-scooters, power tools, phones and other rechargeable devices.

He shared practical advice on reducing risks, including using approved chargers, avoiding overcharging, keeping batteries away from heat, checking for signs of damage, and recycling batteries safely rather than placing them in household rubbish.

The presentation was both engaging and highly relevant, raising awareness of an important community safety issue. We thank Pete Martin and Fire & Rescue NSW for delivering such a valuable and thought-provoking presentation. 🔋

Our first meeting of the new Rotary year – Creating Lasting Impact! 💙💛

What a fantastic way to begin the new Rotary year, embracing this year’s theme of Creating Lasting Impact.

We were privileged to welcome Captain Kingsley Searle from the North Shore Rural Fire Brigade as our guest speaker. Kingsley shared an insightful presentation about the brigade’s vital role in protecting our community, the dedication of its volunteers, and the importance of being prepared for emergencies.

It was also our pleasure to present the brigade with a $2,000 donation towards the purchase of a shipping container to securely house their flood response equipment. Together with the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West Inc., this support will help ensure vital flood equipment is protected and ready to serve our community when it is needed most.

We also heard from our own Ross Nancarrow, founder of Every Daughter Matters, who provided an inspiring update on the organisation’s anti-human trafficking work in Nepal. It was wonderful to hear about the lives being changed and the continued success of their projects.

A heartfelt thank you to Kingsley and Ross for sharing their time and passion with us, and to all our members and guests for making our first meeting of the new Rotary year such a success.

Here’s to a year of Creating Lasting Impact through friendship, service and supporting our local and global communities.

✨ Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Changeover Dinner ✨

A wonderful evening last night celebrating another year of service, fellowship and community impact.

It was great to hear from some of the organisations supported by the club this year, including Hastings Education Fund, Endeavour Clubhouse, YP Space and Lifeline Mid Coast.

Our annual donations also supported many other worthy causes, including the Rotary E-Club and Australians for Women’s Health.

A special highlight of the night was recognising Bob and Valda for their outstanding service to Rotary and their tireless work with the Rotary Book Store and annual Book Sale.

Congratulations to Bob on receiving his Paul Harris Fellow 4th Sapphire, and Valda on receiving her Paul Harris Fellow 3rd Sapphire.

Thank you to our members, honorary members, Friends of Rotary, partners, volunteers and supporters for another great year.
