🧸🖼 🕶🎒Market Day 🥡🍦🌮🏖

Rotary is back at it today, raising money at the Port Macquarie Markets. The day may be a little overcast but there is plenty to see and goodies to purchase.

The markets have been moved slightly to accommodate Ironman next week. Come down near Marine Rescue and say hi to your Rotary Club.

🌟 Celebrating 55 Years of Service Above Self

It was a pleasure to recently visit Garden Village Port Macquarie to spend time with our Charter Member, Reg Fowler, and present him with his Charter Certificate and Pin 🎖, recognising an incredible 55 years of Rotary membership.

In the early days of Rotary in Port Macquarie, Reg played an important role in many of our community projects, including helping build the Sea Scouts building, McInherney Park, and the much-loved Port Macquarie Speedboat 🚤 Regatta.

Reg is truly an instrumental member of our Rotary family and embodies the Rotary International motto, “Service Above Self.”

We thank Reg for his longstanding and enduring service, commitment and contribution to our community.

Congratulations, Reg, on this remarkable milestone! 💙👏

Rotary Mock Council Meeting 🏅

Thank you to Mayor Adam Roberts and the staff at Port Macquarie Hastings Council for holding another Mock Council Meeting for students at Hastings Secondary College and Heritage Christian School Port Macquarie

It is so important for our youth to understand the three levels of government 🏛 and how they operate in society. The pictures we see here could be the next community leader, dedicated in building and strengthening our region🏡.

🌿 Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) – Growing confidence, connection and new ideas!

We were so proud to see two fantastic young people from The Nature School 🏫 in Port Macquarie, Beatrix Etchells and Zulu Britos-Nunnori, take part in RYPEN with the support of Rotary.

Beatrix and Zulu not only embraced everything RYPEN had to offer, but also stepped up as guest speakers, sharing their experiences and ideas with the other participants. 🎤👏

They did an amazing job — confident, genuine and willing to put themselves out there.

Find out more about RYPEN and how it builds confidence, inspires creativity, opens possibilities and makes lasting friendships by visiting: https://rotary9660.org.au/what-we-do/youth/rypen/

Certainly an opportunity of an lifetime.

Fire Safety Awareness 🚒

We were very pleased to have Pete Martin from Fire 🔥 and Rescue Port Macquarie join us as our guest speaker on Tuesday night.

Pete spoke to us about fire safety, with a particular focus on lithium batteries🔌and some of the risks they can pose if they’re damaged, incorrectly charged or stored.

A few simple reminders:
🔋 Use the correct charger for your device
🔋 Don’t charge batteries on beds or couches
🔋 Keep batteries away from heat
🔋 If a battery is swollen, damaged or getting unusually hot, stop using it
🔋 Don’t put lithium batteries in your household rubbish

Thanks Pete for your insight on fire 🔥 safety and for protecting and serving our community 🏡
