Congratulations to our own Julie Constable, on her nomination for Port Macquarie Citizen of the year.
Even being nominated and recognised for all you do, assisting within the community, makes you a winner already.

Note from our District Governor Evan Burrell, following yesterday afternoons horrific, terrorist attack at Bondi Beach.

Rotary's thoughts and prayers are with all those tragically caught up in this senseless and despicable act of violence which has no place in Australia and indeed our world.

As encouraged by the DG, if you're able please consider donating blood to the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Centre, 14/6 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic attack at Bondi Beach yesterday evening that claimed innocent lives, including a child. This senseless act of violence, which appears to have targeted the Jewish community, has no place in Australia.

Here is my short statement expressing my condemnation, our Rotary commitment to peace, and heartfelt condolences to all those affected.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this tragedy.

Yours in Rotary

Evan Burrell
District Governor 2025-2026

๐ŸŽ„ Think of a Charity This Christmas ๐ŸŽ„

As we get closer to Christmas, please spare a thought for those in our community who are doing it tough by donating to a local charity.

Each Christmas, our Rotary Club proudly supports the Hastings Homelessness Collective. Members donate non-perishable food items ๐Ÿฅซ, vouchers ๐Ÿ’ท, and monetary contributions ๐Ÿช™ to help fund their vital support services.

The Hastings Homelessness Collective is a collaborative group of local services in the Port Macquarie area. They support people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness by filling gaps in services and providing essential, non-judgmental assistance through their fortnightly hub at St Agnes Youth Hub, off Horton Street, Port Macquarie.

With the rising cost of living, Christmas can be an especially difficult time for many. Together, letโ€™s help make it a little easier for those in need ๐Ÿซ‚

๐ŸŽ„ Best Dressed Christmas Fun ๐Ÿ‘—

From 11 festive fashionistas and plenty of ๐ŸŽ…ho-ho-heated debate, the final four emerged - Reg Fowler (CM), Keiren Freeman, Andrew Thorn & Rhonda Evans.

In the end the crowd applause reigned supreme crowning ๐Ÿ† Keiren Freeman and Andrew Thorn๐Ÿฅ‡, who sleighed the competition and took home Chrissy cake & pud ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฎ

Merry Christmas everyone ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽถ

Rotary Says No โœ‹๏ธto Domestic Violence

Today, we took a stand at the Port Macquarie Markets to say NO โœ‹๏ธ to Domestic Violence and Yes to Respectful Relationships.

Joining us again was Matthew Phillips, Domestic Violence Officer for the Mid North Coast Police District offering advice and support for those impacted in our community.

"Stop the Violence and End the Silence"

If you are living with Domestic and Family Violence, there is help available.

Congratulations William.
Another one of our Rotary District 9660 NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) success stories.

Our Rotary Club has been sponsoring students to attend this fabulous program for many years.

Students participate in a very comprehensive and competitive application process and meet with other students from all over Australia in either Brisbane or Canberra and connect with some of Australiaโ€™s and overseas, scientific innovators and programs.

We are also thrilled to see another of our supporters Lewis Land and the team from Sovereign Hills Port Macquarie, have also acknowledged Williamโ€™s potential.

Lewis Land was a major sponsor and hosted our successful World Record attempt for the longest line of pegged socks a few years ago. ๐Ÿงฆ ๐Ÿงฆ

Congratulations William! ๐ŸŽ“
We were thrilled to celebrate with William Harris at the Hastings Education Fund's annual presentation evening, where he was awarded the Lewis Land Continuing Education Scholarship. William is pursuing a challenging double degree in Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Newcastle, and his determination and resilience throughout his first year truly impressed us during the application process. We're proud to partner with the Hastings Education Fund in supporting local students like William who are working hard to reach their full potential.

๐ŸŽ„ Christmas Party Night ๐ŸŽ„

Port West Rotary recently celebrated our annual Christmas Party ๐Ÿฅณ with all the festive fun we love โ€” traditional Christmas treats, Chrissy Trivia, photo judging, โ€œBest Dressedโ€ ๐ŸŽ… Christmas outfits for both male and female, raffles, and of course, our wonderful Hastings Secondary College carollers.

The amazing carollers from Hastings Secondary College Westport Campus truly made the night special, filling the room with Christmas spirit as we all joined in song ๐ŸŽต to some classic Chrissy favourites.

From our Rotary family to yours, we wish you all a Merry Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ and a Happy New Year ๐ŸŽŠ.

With love,
Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West
