Port Macquarie C.B.C Angling Club Port Macquarie C.B.C Angling Club is a local fishing club that have outings covering Rock & Beach, Es So far 153 have been tagged and released.

Port Macquarie Angling Club Limited
We were formed in 1977 with the inaugural meeting being held at the Port Macquarie Golf Club on 6th July. During our fist year of operation we had 131 members, May 1978 we had the honour of hosting an NSWFCA Rock and Beach championships with the trophies being donated by many local businesses. In the early days we were instrumental in building a fish cleaning fa

cility at the Plaza boat ramp again with the support with the local business community and members. The record for tailor was 8.26kg caught by Ken Lipscombe at racecourse headland in 1978, this is still a club record and was only just broken at state level in 2004. In the early years the club had hopes of securing land at Settlement Point, the executive held meetings with the Department of Lands at Taree – nothing came of this as it was declared flood prone area. Ross Garvan joined our club in 1979 and introduced Casting and also he was instrumental in assisting the tailor tagging program conducted by fisheries. We held ‘fund raising nights’ also known as gambling nights and also held a couple of Aquatic Festivals in 1981 and in 1982 the Sea Rescue Service joined us in hosting the festival these funds were intended for community uses. In the 1983 AAA titles our club was well represented and we have had competitors in AAA NSW teams since then. Up to 1985 we hosted the Harry Ponty division team’s championships at Point Plumber, during those weekends we held bonfire nights, BBQ with plenty of stews. We can’t forget the fireworks aswell. Campouts at Delegate Nobbie were highlighted by Gary Tuckwell cooking ability with his lamb on the spit cremated in a blaze of glory – Burnt offerings for all. On the 30th April 1992 our new club headquarters was Port Macquarie City Bowling Club, the members joined with the bowlers to participate in an annual twilight social bowls and BBQ. This event is still going strong to this day. By 1991-1992 we had approximately $22,000 which these monies were donated towards the new Sea Rescue Radio Base, to SES for a Jaws of Life and the Surf Lifesaving club benefited by having a trailer donated to enable them to tow the nippers equipment to titles. The club also worked on Committees for beach access. We combined with Lake Cathie fishing club for outings and competitions, we still have our campouts together. In November 1977 Settlers Inn fishing club asked us to participate in the clean up at the North Wall and collected over 35 garbage bags full of rubbish. Now with our yearly campout at Hat Head with Lake Cathie we join forces with Clean Up Australia Day. Our club has always participated in divisional outings and state competitions. Thank you for all your participation in the past and look forward to seeing you all in the future.

🎣 Port Macquarie Anglers – Weekend Club Comp Wrap-Up!** 🎣

Members gathered at McInherney Park for the weigh‑in, with plenty of laughs, light bags, and of course… epic tales of the one that got away 😅🐟.

Despite the smaller catches, we still saw a great mix hit the scales — mullet, bream, blackfish, dart and tailor all making an appearance.

✨ A huge congratulations to our winners:
🏆 Sub Junior: Talitha
🏆 Junior: Henry
🏆 Women’s: Renee
🏆 Veterans: Peter
🏆 Men’s: Nathan

🎁 Mystery Weight (Ned Kelly's Bait n Tackle voucher): Nathan — doubling up this weekend! 💪🔥

A massive well done to everyone who fished, weighed in, supported, told tall tales, or just hung around for the banter. These weekends are what club spirit is all about! 💙

🎣 Good luck to our members heading to Yamba in a couple of weeks for the State Comp — fish hard, stay safe, and bring home some bragging rights! 🐠🏅
