Our church meets 10am each Sunday at 41-45 Marine Avenue Port Lincoln. We invite everyone to join us and invite people to simply come as you are.

The Salvation Army has been in Australia for over 130 years. Currently we have more than 8,500 active officers and staff delivering in excess of 1000 specifically designed social programs across Australia. The Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians every year – that's one person every 30 seconds! In a typical week across Australia we provide*:

100,000 meals for the hungry
2,000 beds for the homeless
5,000 to 8,000 food vouchers
1,000 people with assistance in finding employment
Refuge to 500 victims of abuse
Assistance to 500 people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling
Several thousand people with counselling
3,000 elderly people with aged care services
1000 people in the court system with chaplaincy services
Family tracing services which locate 40 missing family members

We will rejoice and be glad in it

This morning we rejoiced as two new adherents, Carmel Greeves and Lee Ellis, were formally enrolled as members of our Port Lincoln Salvation Army church family.

Sisters Carmel and Lee made their public commitment to God and The Salvation Army, and we celebrate this important step in their faith journey.

We are so grateful for their commitment, dedication and willingness to serve. We pray that God will continue to bless and guide them as they grow in faith and fellowship.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24

This afternoon, I visited the RSL Port Lincoln in my role as chaplain.

It was wonderful to see my friend Ernie, who was happy to catch up and have a chat.

I always enjoy my regular visits with these wonderful veterans, listening to their life experiences and sharing with them what Sue and I have been doing at the church since my last visit.

It is a privilege and an honour to spend time with these men and women, hear their stories, and be welcomed into their company.

I am also honoured to share in the five o’clock remembrance and joining in with the Ode of Remembrance and observing in silence during the Last Post.

We will always remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom

Father God, just as You have forgiven us unconditionally, You are asking us to forgive others. Please help us to do that. Fill us with humility and empathy, and help us to see other people the way that You see them. Show us how to love people the way that You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
