Long Point parkrun

****Event cancellation ****

We just got informed that part of our course will be closed for months for the new Jetty construction!!!

Unfortunately we have to cancel this Saturday and probably a couple of more weeks until we find a suitable alternative course!

We are very upset as we didn’t get any information about the path closure.

Please check our Facebook regularly for updates in regards to future cancellation and hopefully announcements of an alternative course (start/finish will be moved).

A huge thank you to everyone who put their hand up and helped us lock in a full volunteer roster for this Saturday. You’re the reason Long Point parkrun runs smoothly every week, and we’re incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm you bring.

As we look ahead, though, the roster for the coming weeks is looking a little… spacious. If you haven’t volunteered in a while — or have never tried it before — now’s the perfect time to jump in. Every role comes with simple training, plenty of support, and a whole lot of appreciation from the Long Point parkrun community.

Volunteering isn’t just helping out — it’s being part of what makes parkrun special. Whether you’re cheering, timing, scanning, or setting up, you’re contributing to something that brings people together every Saturday.

So see you at Long Point this Saturday, check the roster, pick a date, and add your name. Let’s keep Long Point parkrun thriving.

See you Saturday — running, walking, or volunteering!

Event #20

Hey people! We still need two marshals, a timekeeper, and preferably a second barcode scanner for this Saturday's Long Point parkrun to occur. Please consider volunteering, it's such a great way to contribute to YOUR community!

Parkrun #19

Today our numbers were a bit lower than usual with106 people joining us in this windy weather to run/walk Long Point parkrun. Perhaps they are in Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final

Congratulations to Allanah and Ella for first time volunteers, and Meg for her 150th volunteer.

Congratulations to Brooklyn for 10th parkrun, Kyle for his 50th and Michelle for her 100th parkrun.

** Volunteer roles needed - Timekeeper, marshalls, token sorter **

Although parkrun is not a race we do share your time and finish position. The timekeepers play a crucial role in that. If we don't have a timekeeper, no-one will record a time.

🏁 What the Timekeeper Does

• Starts the timer when run director says 321 Go !!!!

• Records a finish time for everyone as they cross the line.

• They do that by using parkrun Virtual Volunteer app. It’s straightforward as they just tap their screen when each finisher passes in front of them crossing the finish line

⏰ Why not come and try volunteering as a Timekeeper one week? it’s a brilliant way to be part of the event’s heartbeat. Just let us know by commenting below.
