B*H was delighted to welcome Premier Ben Carroll MP and Alison Marchant - Member for Bellarine to our Point Lonsdale site today and share the work being delivered across public dental, child and family services, community health and prevention programs.
A common theme throughout the visit was the importance of growing service capacity through partnership.
Whether supporting children through early intervention programs or improving access to dental care, the greatest value comes from strengthening existing services and avoiding duplication of workforce infrastructure.
Partnerships deliver better outcomes than parallel systems.

Our Healthy Communities Team were excited to participate in the 2026 Barwon Area Respectful Relationship Schools Forum in Geelong last month.
The team joined Barwon Health Healthy Communities Team to support the wonderful presentation by Healthy Places Healthy Futures.
Healthy Places Healthy Futures is a state-wide initiative led by the Victorian Government and Cancer Council Victoria. The initiative offers schools and services a framework for action to strengthen health & wellbeing efforts. Healthy Places works in collaboration with health and education partners across the state, helping connect schools and services to the programs, resources and support they need when they need them.
Connecting with local schools, health promotion officers, and the Cancer Council was truly inspiring. We are proud to highlight how health promotion professionals can empower schools to thrive through the Healthy Places Framework.
Thank you to the Respectful Relationships Barwon Area Team for the opportunity to connect with our local school communities.

Lots of things happening for our Children's team this week.
They've been marking Speech Pathology Week and having some fun with Book Week 💬📖
The Speech Pathology Week theme this year is ‘communication creates possibility’ and our Speech Pathologists help turn possibility into opportunity for children and families across the Bellarine.
Our fantastic team of seven clinicians, play a vital role in helping children and young people develop the communication, language and feeding skills that support participation, learning and wellbeing.
The team have also been embracing book week with some fun dress ups as their favourite characters.
We've got the Witch from Room on the Broom, Fire Chief Fran, Thelma the Unicorn and The Gruffalo.

The theme for this year's Wear It Purple Day is "Colours of Courage" and it's about the bravery it takes to make workplaces safer and more inclusive for LGBTQIA+ people.
Courage can look like speaking up, standing out and creating change. It can also take quieter forms of bravery, like living authentically, coming out, asking for support, standing beside someone, or choosing pride and hope in spaces where being yourself does not always feel easy.
At B*H our Diversity & Inclusion Action Group is championing diversity and inclusion across all levels of our organisation so that everyone feels welcome.

Do you need a bit of extra help getting out for a shopping trip?
We have some capacity on our "Going Places" bus on the Wednesday and Friday shopping trips to Leopold Gateway Plaza.
🚌Wednesday - is suitable for people who live in Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff, Ocean Grove, Drysdale, Clifton Springs and Curlewis
🚌Friday - is suitable for people who live in Portarlington, Indented Heads, St Leonards, Drysdale, Clifton Springs and Curlewis
There's plenty of time for shopping and a coffee and chat afterwards.
Clients must be able to shop independently and have available funding through My Aged Care.

We want to thank Body Safety Australia for running an amazing Gender Glorious Workshop!

Organised by our Healthy Communities Team, this workshop was part of a larger project, ‘The Kinder Kits’, which aims to empower local early childhood services to be healthier and more equitable places for all.

The early learning educators who participated gained tools and strategies to help create safe and inclusive learning environments.

We are proud to support learning opportunities that help build inclusion, belonging, and positive outcomes for children, families, and educators in our region.

This workshop was supported by a City of Greater Geelong Community Grant

Huge thank you to dental instrument supply company ‘Single Use’ for their generous donation of instruments and clinical consumables for our personalised dental service for people with autism and mild intellectual disabilities.
This is the second donation from ‘Single Use’ for our specialised dental service, which is specifically designed to reduce anxiety for patients with ASD and help them to feel comfortable at the dentist.
Accessible dental care is so important so thanks ‘Single Use’ for supporting such an important service.
