Happy 159th Birthday Gympie! 🎉🥳
Gympie South RFB was honoured to participate in the first Gold Rush Parade this year after many years of it not being held. There was a buzz of excitement in the air and it was wonderful to see such strong community spirit and support from local businesses, organisations, schools and also from all the people who came to clap and cheer the parade on.
Our crew had a great time entertaining the crowds with lights and sirens, claps and cheers.
It’s community events like these that really remind you of how wonderful it is to live in a town that is proud of its history while also embracing the future. Well done to the organisers and all involved in a great
celebration.

Firefighters Remembrance Day
Every year on the 10th of October we stop and take time to remember those brave men and women, who have lost their lives in the line of service. They paid the ultimate sacrifice while helping and protecting others and their communities and for that we will always remember them.

This week is Get Ready Week and Queenslanders are being encouraged to prepare for extreme weather.

With a strong El Nino forecast for 2026, Queensland can expect predominantly dry conditions in the coming weeks and months.

These conditions can increase the risk of bushfire and create challenging conditions for firefighters across large parts of the state.

Get Ready Week serves as a timely reminder to make sure you and your family are prepared for whatever Queensland weather throws at you.

🔥Recently some of our crew members assisted a land owner with a HRB (Hazard Reduction Burn).
This was an event organised after thorough planning, assessment and communication between the land owner, one of our Officers and the Fire Warden for the area.
As we are all aware we are currently in fire season and with conditions deteriorating there are small windows of opportunity for such permitted burns to take place.
Happily, the burn went well and the land owner was grateful for the assistance as was their inquisitive cattle! Many thanks to the land owner for engaging our services, adhering to the permit conditions and being pro-active in responsibly and safely looking after their property.

Our crews have been busy over recent weeks responding to many wildfire call-outs, training days and deployments. Our training days are important sessions to hone procedures, learn new skills and come together to work as one team. Huge thanks to all our brigade members who have responded either locally or on deployment. We’re super proud of your efforts and the support you have provided 👏👏

If you’re flying a drone near a bushfire, that means our aircraft can’t.

Our crews often need to fly lower than the usual, which means they may be grounded if drones are operating in the area.

We know fires can look impressive from above, but please keep the skies clear so our aerial firefighting units can do what they do best.
