Financial, Administrative and Professional Services Training Council (FAPSTC) provides high level strategic advice to the State Government, Industry and Registered Training Organisations regarding the workforce development needs of the Business, Financial and Property Services and Asset Maintenance sectors. FAPSTC works with industry to foster:

Digital Skills Organisation has been selected to begin stage one transition to becoming a Jobs and Skills Council with responsibility for the Finance, Business and Technology sectors. The organisation will partner with PwC’s Skills for Australia which has experience supporting the Finance, Technology and Business sectors through its role as a Skills Services Organisation over the past six years.

Over the next four years, the Federal Government will establish Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) to help address skills shortages and broader workforce challenges. Originally referred to as Industry Clusters, the new JSCs will have a strong connection to Jobs and Skills Australia and align with the Government’s vision for new industry engagement arrangements. 10 industry groupings will be established:

Agribusiness
Arts, Personal Services, Retail, Tourism and Hospitality
Energy, Gas and Renewables
Finance, Technology and Business
Manufacturing
Mining and Automotive
Transport and Logistics
Public Safety and Government
Early Educators, Health and Human Services
Building, Construction and Property

The existing arrangements of the 67 Industry Reference Committees will be wound up by the end of 2022.

The Correctional Services Training Package Release 5.0 has been endorsed by the Skills Ministers for implementation. The endorsed Training Package materials are now available on training.gov.au along with a Companion Volume Implementation Guide which contains a comprehensive list of all products in the Training Package; mapping information which details the changes that have been made to the materials; regulation and licensing implications; and useful links to other information.

Grants of up to $38,000 per trainee have been awarded to Community Resource Centres and small regional local government authorities to supporting 52 traineeships in small communities across the state. The Regional Traineeship Program encourages people to stay and work in their local community. The funding will support traineeships across a range of fields including business administration and marketing.

The Australian Skills Guarantee (the Guarantee) is an Australian Government commitment which aims to ensure one in 10 workers on major, federally funded government projects is an apprentice, trainee or paid cadet. To inform the design and implementation of the Guarantee, stakeholders are invited to read the Australian Skills Guarantee Discussion Paper and provide feedback. The paper also seeks feedback on the design of future initiatives to support women to achieve higher paying careers via vocational education and training pathways.
