TREDA through our Manila Missions project seek to provide relief to poor families in the Philippines, especially squatter communities by offering a program where families can apply and be assessed and if successful receive start-up capital for a livelihood (or micro) business. We utilise the families existing work skills or provide training courses. We focus on helping families with a heart to hel
p others so that their help for other families starts the ripple effect in motion. We partner with small churches who look after the families after we return home to Australia. The partner church team meet monthly with the new business owners. In return for receiving the gift of being able to provide for themselves each family give a small monthly donation to be used to help another family to start a business thereby effecting long term change in the whole community. We do not allow sari sari stores, fishball sellers or any business requesting capital above php5,000. Our team are all volunteers so we have limited overheads.
