PRIDE IN SWAN WELCOMES THE MODERNISATION OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA’S ANTI-DISCRIMINATION LAWS
A significant step towards equality, dignity, inclusion and justice for all.
Pride in Swan warmly welcomes the Western Australian Government’s commitment to modernising the State’s anti-discrimination laws, recognising this as an important step towards building a fairer, safer and more inclusive Western Australia.
For too long, many LGBTIQA+ people, particularly transgender, gender-diverse, non-binary and inters*x people, have faced discrimination, exclusion and barriers to living openly and authentically.
We believe that every person deserves to live with dignity, safety, respect and equality, regardless of their s*xual orientation, gender identity, s*x characteristics, cultural background or personal circumstances.
As a community-led organisation working alongside diverse communities, including LGBTIQA+ people of colour, First Nations people, migrants and refugees, we recognise that discrimination can be experienced in multiple and intersecting ways.
We also acknowledge the tireless efforts of LGBTIQA+ advocates, community organisations, human rights campaigners and allies who have worked for many years to bring these reforms to the forefront.
Our message is simple: Equality is not a privilege. Dignity is not negotiable. Everyone deserves to belong.
Pride in Swan remains committed to standing alongside our communities and advocating for a Western Australia where diversity is celebrated, identities are respected and no one is left behind.
