experience significant and preventable
barriers to their safety, dignity and full
participation in society. These barriers span
all domains of life, including healthcare,

also experience racism, ableism, ageism and
other forms of marginalisation. Trans and
gender diverse children and young people
also face additional, distinct challenges"

Pride in Swan will be at Altone Comes Alive — Proud as we are! 🌈

Come and say hello to our Chair, Jeanne Williams, at the City of Swan’s annual Harmony Week celebration of culture, connection, and community.

This vibrant festival brings people together to celebrate diversity and belonging, welcoming over 5,000 attendees last year — and 2026 will be even bigger! Witness the region’s largest citizenship ceremony and celebrate new Australians.

Enjoy 4+ hours of cultural performances, 70+ stalls, delicious multicultural food, free mechanical rides, and plenty of fun for kids — including face painting, henna, hair braiding, and an animal farm.

The event is inclusive and accessible, featuring a drop-off zone, access matting, viewing areas, and a Supervised Chill Zone. A dedicated prayer space will also be available for those observing Ramadan.

Have you upgraded your phone recently? Give your old phone to someone in need!

Right before the Christmas break, my office sent another 45 of phones off to DV Safe Phone. Your phone could be the next one to help someone flee domestic violence.

The phones are collected, repaired, and distributed free of charge through a nationwide network of agencies including Indigo Junction in Midland.

Drop by my office at Shop 2, 257 Great Eastern Highway, Midland to donate.

Remember to log out of any iCloud accounts so that phones can be accessed, cleared, and distributed to someone in need.

June Lowe is always an inspiration for so many in our community — a true hero and a fighter. She consistently stands up for those in need and ensures their voices are heard and visible. June has supported numerous organisations to strengthen inclusivity, offering training, guidance, and unwavering leadership. As the former Chair of GRAI for many years, her contribution to advancing LGBTIQA+ inclusion has been truly invaluable.

Last year, the State Government announced the development of Western Australia’s first whole-of-government LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan. The Strategy provides a coordinated framework to ensure that LGBTIQA+ people and families in Western Australia are valued, safe, and supported to lead empowered, proud, and connected lives — free from discrimination and harm.

The Strategy focuses on achieving better outcomes across four priority areas:

Belonging, Connection and Visibility

Safety, Equity and Wellbeing

Services, Systems and Data

Leadership, Education and Awareness

Pride in Swan is proud to have been part of the development and consultation process contributing to this important statewide Strategy.
