🌱 WA grain growers can now put their existing farm data to work through SoilPlan, a new decision-support tool for whole-farm liming.

SoilPlan combines paddock and soil data with science-backed modelling, allowing growers and advisers to identify areas that may need attention, compare different liming strategies and explore potential soil, production and financial outcomes over time. 📊

The WA Farm Data Sharing project is funded by Food Agility CRC, delivered in collaboration with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Curtin University and Grower Group Alliance.

The project development was guided by consultation with several grower groups, growers, agronomists, farm consultants, agtech and data providers AxisTech

SoilPlan is now available through AxisStream, a data analytics platform provided by AxisTech.

Is wastewater management a challenge for your business?

The PropaGATE Innovator Showcase is for you.

PropaGATE is bringing five businesses to Western Australia to demonstrate how they're tackling one of the meat processing industry's hardest problems: managing high-strength wastewater.

You’ll also see how one innovative technology is already making a difference in the brewing industry, with a tour of the Hydroleap plant at Spinifex Brewing Co. The plant is currently treating wastewater at the brewery and was installed through the first PropaGATE-supported trial.

Diversification can spread seasonal risk 🌱

Research comparing lentils, chickpeas, faba beans and lupins found that different crops respond differently to rainfall timing and water availability. Lentils, for example, can perform well in dry conditions while leaving more water available for the following crop.

Other research presented at the 2026 Agronomy Australia Conference found that lentils can improve the amount of soil moisture and nitrogen available to the next crop, including in dry seasons.

The takeaway? There is value in designing rotations to perform across a range of seasons to manage risk under variable climate and economic conditions.
