๐Ÿ Bees are tiny heroes with a huge job pollinating our flowers, growing our food, and keeping nature buzzing with life! ๐ŸŒผ ๐Ÿ’›

We were lucky enough to receive a Carman's Kitchen Wheen Bee Foundation grant in 2025 allowing us to purchase 168 bee friendly plants for our little park ๐Ÿฏ

Finney Park wouldnโ€™t be what it is without our incredible volunteers ๐Ÿ’š

In 2025, we planted 200 City of Joondalup and 168 Carmanโ€™s Wheen Bee grant seedlings ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ ... and we canโ€™t wait to start removing their green skirts to see how theyโ€™ve grown!

We were also proud to be part of the recent โ€œFriends ofโ€ groups mini expo at the Joondalup Library. It was a great chance to share the story of our special patch of bushland.

Summer watering is now behind us and itโ€™s time to roll into winter weeding season ๐ŸŒฟ Weโ€™d love you to join us. Details coming soon!

Until then, wishing all a Happy and Safe Easter!

๐Ÿฆ‡ Did you know?

Tiny microbats live right here in Finney Park! These little night-time superheroes eat hundreds of insects in a single hour, helping keep mozzies and other bugs under control while we sleep.

Theyโ€™re about the size of a small mouse, use echolocation to navigate in the dark, and quietly roost in tree hollows during the day.

Next time youโ€™re in the park at dusk, look up. Those quick little zig-zags in the sky might just be our local microbats heading out for dinner. ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿฆ‡ Perhaps you would like to join us this Friday, 20 March 6.30pm to water seedlings and spot these heroes.

Like all native animals, bats are vulnerable to predators such as cats, so please ensure that cats are kept in at night. We are losing too many of our little native creatures โœจ

Great to meet with the Natural Environment team from City of Joondalup for our annual Friends of Finney Park catch-up ๐ŸŒฟ

We have so much to be grateful for after a busy and productive year. From signage and seedlings to logistical help, expert advice, and genuine encouragement. Their recognition of our volunteersโ€™ efforts in protecting and regenerating this precious urban bushland means a great deal.

Thank you to the whole team. Having your support, and people to lean on, makes a real difference to our community. We truly do live in a beautiful place, and caring for our own backyard is so rewarding ๐Ÿ’š

Join us 6.30pm this Friday (23 Jan) for watering and a sundowner under the trees ๐ŸŒฑโ˜€๏ธ

Please remember long sleeve shirt and trousers, closed in shoes, mossie repellent, watering can if you have one (we have spares), camping chair and your favourite bevy, then sit back surrounded by the magic of our little bushland โœจ

๐ŸŒฟ Welcome the New Year at Finney Park ๐ŸŒฟ

Join us under the Finney Park trees with fellow community members and your favourite bevy in hand as we give our new seedlings a quick helping hand through summer.

๐Ÿ’ง Whatโ€™s involved?
Just 20 minutes of watering with a few extra hands makes a big difference. Until now, watering has been carried by two amazing volunteers and the Council. Weโ€™d love to share the load and build a simple routine to help our plantings thrive.

๐Ÿ‘• What to bring / wear:
โ€ข Long trousers & long-sleeved shirt
โ€ข Closed-in shoes
โ€ข Insect repellent (midgies & mozzies may join the party!)
โ€ข Watering can with a rainhead if you have one (we have a few spares)
โ€ข Camping chair & your favourite bevy ๐Ÿน

A relaxed way to catch up, enjoy the park, and support our growing bushland ๐ŸŒฑ

Last Sunday morning bushcare gathering for the year! 8.30am in an effort to beat the heat โ˜€๏ธ

We will switch to Water and Wine (or whatever your favourite bevy) nights as our hot summer approaches. A little bit of watering and then sit back and enjoy our beautiful piece of bushland.

Our little group have planted over 500 seedlings this year, most of which seem to be thriving after solid winter rains. Thanks to all who have helped. It is amazing what a few passionate people can do ๐Ÿ’š
