The City of Wanneroo encompasses an area of 684 square kilometers. Wanneroo Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade provides a fire prevention and suppression service for the municipality with the exception of areas under the care and control of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and the gazetted fire districts controlled by the WA Fire and Rescue Service. The bush fir
efighting area consists of coastal dunes and gently undulating sand country with numerous outcrops of limestone and caprock. The vegetation of the district includes large areas of pine plantations, swamps, heavy bush areas, rural properties and buildings. Wanneroo Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade consists of about 80 volunteer members who respond 24/7, 365 days of the year. The brigade has its own turnout area, meaning they provide the only fire suppression response for a variety of Wanneroo localities, such as Pinjar, Nowergup, Carabooda, and parts of Mariginiup and Jandabup. Assistance is also provided to the WA Fire and Rescue Service and DBCA for fires in their response areas. Over the years the brigade has met the needs of a changing community to develop into what is now an efficient and professional volunteer fire brigade which can go from mounting an attack on a bush or wildfire to aiding in storm relief and community events. The Wanneroo Central firefighting fleet consists of 2 Light Tanker 4x4 units and 2 Heavy Duty appliances (a 3.4 Urban and 4.4 Rural Tanker). Overall, the City of Wanneroo Fire Services crew and maintain 5x Light Tanker units (4x4), 4x Heavy Duty Tankers (4x4), 1x 12.2 Bulk Water Tanker, 1x Fire Support Vehicle, 1x Incident Control Vehicle, 1x Collar Tank Trailer, 3x BBQ Trailers, 1x Community Asset Resource Trailer (CART) and 1x Canteen Trailer.
