Friends of Freo

Friends of Freo Friends of Freo is a collective of active Fremantle based Landcare and Coastcare groups working together to share resources and knowledge to achieve goals.

Friends of Freo is a collective of locally based Landcare and Coastcare groups in the Fremantle area actively working together to share resources and knowledge while enabling each other to achieve individual group goals. Groups within the collective include Beaconsfield Quarry, Booyeembara Park, Cantonment Hill, Clontarf Hill, Freo Beaches and Hollis Park. Friends of Freo will not replace groups,

rather it will be a unified voice and will share tools and offer support to assist groups in achieve their goals. Common goals within groups include:
- raise awareness and foster community engagement
- protect assets and conserve native plants and animals
- prevent dune erosion
- prevent storm water pollution
- control weeds
- control human access to sensitive areas. Being part of this bigger story means the collective can work to regenerate degraded areas, improve flora planting survival rates, increase Fremantle's canopy cover, support council's greening Fremantle goals and ultimately - enhance biodiversity and connectivity between community and nature. How Friends of Freo aims to help groups:
- knowledge sharing
- resource sharing (ie trade/give surplus native seedlings to other groups)
- tool sharing
- fundraising
- a single point of contact for the council
- strategic finding application awareness
- enable new groups to start
- break down the barriers to entry. Join our page for news, events and information on groups within the collective.
