Many people in the group are proffesionals in outside life and we hope everyone to bring a proffesional yet modest attitude to learning and training. You should also be interested in Zen,training includes a period of zazen at Jizoan Zen Centre. Training begins at 8am each Saturday or Sunday and finishes around 12pm (45 minutes Zazen followed by short tea and Kobudo, usually beginning with Tachi Iai and moving through to other sections such as Kenjutsu or bojutsu for example) plus one Sunday per month which is a long workshop (appox. 6 hours). You don't have to attend every training day, but you must keep your own practice up. You will have to get various training clothes and weapons, Hakama, hanten, obi, iaito or shinken, boktoh, bo, etc. Some items will be provided free. You don't have to be a member of the temple, but periods of zazen are part of participation (45 minutes at the beginning of each training session). If you already have equipment we will still have to tell you if it is correct for the school of Koryu bujutsu practised within the group. If the bokken or Daito you already have is not suitable you will have to get another, we are sorry. There is no contact involved, no free sparing or competition of any kind, nothing other than wooden weapons is ever used in partnered practice and no touching is ever involved. If you wish to join us please email for an interview appointment.
