Season 2026 started at Royal Fremantle with 44 Vets playing American Foursomes in warm conditions. The ladies enjoyed the course and the ice cold drinks at the 19th hole hit the spot.
Winners were Delane Kane, Fiona Stephenson and Athena Burton with 32 points. One point behind was Lorraine Sims and Jo Landy.

2025 Opening Day was held at Royal Fremantle in almost perfect conditions. 65 ladies were challenged by the long course and "rules" for American 4somes. A highlight of the 19th hole was the welcoming staff and relaxed conditions in the outside area. Thanks RFGC.

The winning score was 31 stableford shared by G*i Breakwell & partner Karen Hodson and Alison Lang & Karen Hodson. Karen exhausted herself by playing in both teams with her combination with G*i winning on a countback.

Confused? Yes MiScore certainly was but the workaround with a swinging playing due to uneven numbers meant that everyone played in the comp.

Vets next game is Maylands on 28 April.

Season 2025 starts on 10 March at Royal Fremantle. Bookings open 11 February and close 3 March. New and returning members welcome. To play at all 6 courses listed, former members pay $160 and for new members it’s an additional $20 one off nomination fee.

For the final game of the year, we played nine holes of golf at Sea View followed by the AGM and lunch.

We had a field of 38. Remembrance Day was acknowledged by a quiet moment of reflection at 11am and with many ladies wearing poppies. The game was memorable for Lynda Seetsen (Seabirds) who scored 21 points to win ahead of new member, Pam Allen (Pt Walter) and Deb Hughes (Collier) who tied for second place with 20 points.
However, it was sadly memorable for 6 members who could not find their mojo and battled to make double figures. But that’s golf and I’m sure the stars will align for your next game. It was still a beautiful day on the course.

The AGM was way more positive than last year when we thought VWGA may have to cease operating. Thanks to those who turned things around and it’s fantastic that VWGA has an experienced committee for 2025.

Captain G*i will be seeking out interesting courses and negotiating good deals for our next season. Fixtures will be confirmed/available by mid to late February.

Compared to the heat of last year the weather at Point Walter was glorious for the Helen Dalziel Trophy - a 4some's event for members 65+.
The winning pair was Claire Andrews (Hamersley) & Julie Neilsen (Collier) on 33 pts closely followed by Helen Hatton (Floreat) & Nola Banfield (Cottesloe) on 32 pts.

In the young'uns comp! Delane Kane & Heather Kidd (Sea View) were the winners on 28 pts.

Our next event is on 11 November - 9 holes at Sea View followed by the AGM and lunch provided by VWGA.
