The Pour That Stopped WA: Inside One of the Biggest Concrete Pours in State History
Hundreds of concrete trucks. Thousands of tonnes poured. Dozens of hardworking CFMEU WA members on the tools around the clock.
At the new Women and Babies Hospital in Murdoch, workers pulled off one of the biggest concrete pours in recent WA history - a massive operation that began at 2am and rolled right through the night and into the next day.
To put it into perspective, the pour covered an area roughly half the size of Optus Stadium, and completed in just a matter of hours.
This wasn’t luck. It was precision, planning and teamwork at the highest level. Everyone had one shot to get it right, and CFMEU WA members delivered under pressure.
From the pump crews and riggers to the concrete gangs and supervisors, every worker played their part in a seamless operation that showcased the skill, experience and professionalism that Union labour brings to major projects across Western Australia.
Big jobs demand big standards - and once again CFMEU WA members proved they are Setting the Pace for the entire industry.
