It's 🤩Perinatal Mental Health Awareness Week🤩which is a time of acknowledging how the birth of a baby can send shock waves through the new parent and partner and family. It's such a major psychological readjustment, and one that we don't seem adequately prepared for 💔 This morning I had the privilege of opening Perinatal Mental Health week with a group of medical doctors that have a special interested in it all. And this Wednesday I will be delivering an online session on how reflective relationship-focussed group can boost mental health and family well-being. 💛 Big news 💛 We’re so excited to share that the Murdoch University Psychology Clinic will be running its very first Mother-Baby Nurture group starting 13th October!
Mother-Baby Nurture is a gentle, reflective space for mums and their babies in the early months. It’s all about slowing down, connecting with your little one, and finding support alongside other mums who get it. 🌿👶
Thanks to Dr Lisa Saville Young & Dr Kelli MacMillan for their leadership and the Rotary Club of Karrinyup for their start-up grant support👏 Murdoch Clinic now joins Allambee, ERICA Women's Centre, Ngala, Meerilinga Children and Community Services, Radiance Network South West and WA Country Health Service Albany in offering this much-needed perinatal support program.

Mother-Baby Nurture is a 10-week group designed to support you and your infant (0-6 months) through the early days of parenting as you get to know and respond to each other. It’s a safe, supportive and confidential space for you to share your experiences.

Its exciting times to be partnering with Ngala in their perinatal and infant-mental health services. Some good news for WA families. 🥳

The State Government is investing $39.5 million to partner with Ngala, Raising happiness to deliver no-cost public access to the Ngala Residential Parenting Service.

This service provides mental health early intervention and prevention support for families having a difficult time following the birth of a child.

Congratulations to all the graduates of the April Mother-Baby Nurture Facilitator training. It’s exciting to have more groups available to families, especially those in the country.

Our first regional group started in Busselton and now MBN is available in Bunbury, Albany, Mandurah and soon Geraldton!
Big thanks to the 26 expert clinicians that put their heart and soul into their work 💙
