No experience needed. Just bring your laptop, a bit of curiosity and we’ll handle the rest! (yes, that includes lunch, cupcakes, mentoring and career advice). 🧁

Then for our Sydney She Coders we’ve got the Sydney Showcase on June 9th for an exclusive opportunity to see the Sydney graduating class for 2025/26. View the portfolios of the participants and network with other professionals in tech, and last but by no means least, hire some amazing women in tech!

Our mentoring team is made up of dedicated volunteers and paid contractors who support our longer programs and show up for our community every step of the way 💜

Through the mentor give-back program mentors have the option to contribute their fees back into future programs.

Each time the fund reaches a milestone, it opens the door for another woman to join She Codes Plus.

In 2025, the mentor give-back program has already funded four scholarships across Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney. That’s double what was possible in 2024!

From first lines of code… to careers in tech 💻

Meet some of our She Codes Plus alumni.

Not so long ago, they were in class, contemplating a career change. Since completing the bootcamp, they’ve stepped into roles across the tech industry. Let's have a look at where they were to where they are now!

Becky’s journey is a beautiful reminder that there’s no single path into tech 💜

A teacher, storyteller, performer, and radio station manager, Becky has spent her career helping people express themselves and find their voice.

From media and music to journalism and education, she’s always worked at the intersection of creativity and communication. Now, through She Codes Plus Brisbane, she’s adding something new to that toolkit: code.

“What I’m loving about getting into code is that I can use all of it,” Becky says. “I get to be an inventor and come up with solutions. Coding allows you to be an artist… and your canvas is anything you can think of.”

Through the six-month program, Becky has been building skills, confidence, and connection supported by mentors, peers, and real conversations with people working in tech.
And she’s already thinking about what comes next.

Becky is passionate about making learning more accessible for students and easier for teachers to adapt to individual needs. With experience working with young people in diverse and challenging environments, she brings a strong focus on inclusive and trauma-informed education.

For her, coding isn’t just a new skill set, It’s a way to create tools that open doors.
“I want to create something that gives teachers options… at the click of a button.”

The She Codes hoodie might look like a normal hoodie… but apparently it comes with a little bit of magic ✨

(We’ll let you decide.)

We won’t confirm or deny… but we will say this: the real magic isn’t the hoodie.

It’s the people. The mentors who jump in to help. The conversations happening across the room. The moment something finally makes sense and you realise you can actually do this.

Hoodie optional. Community essential 💜

Meet Ada Lovelace 💻

Born in 1815, Ada was a mathematician who worked alongside Charles Babbage on early mechanical computing concepts.
She’s best known for writing the first algorithm designed to be processed by a machine, earning her recognition as the world’s first computer programmer.

But beyond that, Ada had a remarkable vision - she imagined computers could go far beyond numbers and calculations, even exploring ideas like music and creativity.

Her legacy is a reminder that women have been part of the foundations of technology from the very beginning.
And we’re still building on that today.

Another She Codes Workshop wrapped.

This footage was from our recent Perth one day workshop .wa

Women from all backgrounds and experience levels coming together to learn something new.

Building their first projects. Asking questions. Helping each other out. Figuring it out as they go.

This is what learning in community looks like.

Tech is for everyone 💛

We’ve had people from all ages, backgrounds, and careers walk through our doors and start learning to code.

Chefs, wine sommeliers, teachers, accountants, social workers, hospitality staff… even someone who worked on a super yacht.

Different stories. Different starting points. Same curiosity and drive.

The first step is always the hardest. But it gets a whole lot easier when you’ve got a community behind you, and a space where you’re allowed to figure it out as you go.

Some stories just come full circle.

Irah is our longest-running Sydney mentor. She pivoted from a career in finance to a career in technology as a Software Engineer in Macquarie’s retail bank.

Originally from the Philippines, Irah built her early career in finance after moving to Australia in 2009. Over time, curiosity started to grow around the technology shaping her work.

She up-skilled, studied while working full-time, and stepped into a tech role through Macquarie’s ExpandToTech initiative. By 2021, she was a software engineer working on faster payments technology, helping build systems that impact customers every day.

And now? She’s mentoring the next generation of women in tech through She Codes, volunteering with Grok Academy, and continuing to support early-career technologists inside her workplace.

Irah’s story is a reminder that career change doesn’t have to mean starting over. It can mean building on everything you already know… and taking it somewhere new.
