Perth Highland Pipe Band 🎂

This year, Perth Highland Pipe Band celebrates 80 years. The band was founded by Pipe Major Lewis MacLennan MBE in 1946 after he returned from service in the second World War. Lew knew many other ex-army pipers and drummers who wanted to keep playing after the war, so they formed Perth Highland Pipe Band with 41 foundation members. The band wears MacLennan tartan kilts in his honour.

Perth Metro Pipe Band is seeking expressions of interest for a Grade 4 Band Pipe Major to join our growing organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated piper and leader to help guide and develop our Grade 4 band within a supportive, structured and forward-thinking pipe band environment.

The successful person will be supported by our Player Management Group, ensuring tuition, leadership and band development remain aligned with Perth Metro’s broader player development program.

We are also welcoming new Grade 4 players who are looking to join a positive, committed and ambitious band environment.

Whether you are an experienced Pipe Major, an emerging leader, or a player looking for a fresh opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

At the annual Players Meeting last night we elected our playing officers for the next 12 months. From left to right: Drum Major Gary Mackintosh • Drum Corporal Thomson Unsworth • Pipe Major Charles Barblett • Drum Sergeant David Johnston • Pipe Sergeant Callum Griffiths • Pipe Corporal Keith Allan • Drum Corporal Sue McNaughtan. (Pipe Corporal Ali MacKerron was a bit too far outside the photo, being somewhere in Scotland this week.) Congratulations to all our leadership team, with a special acknowledgment to Dave Johnston, who celebrates his 30th year as Drum Sergeant!
