Cobra Club Electric Kart Challenge – 21 June 2026
Sunday, 21st June 2026, saw an exciting convoy headed south for what is fast becoming one of the Cobra Club’s most anticipated annual events — the inaugural Electric Karts Challenge at PowerPlay, the impressive new karting venue in Welshpool.
The lineup heading to battle was hard to miss: two Cobras, five Tintops, and one motorbike, all carrying sixteen eager drivers ready to test their skills and settle a few bragging rights on the track.
With exclusive use of the circuit and eight electric karts at our disposal, the stage was set for an afternoon of serious competition and plenty of laughs. Drivers were split into two groups, with everyone guaranteed three track sessions — each consisting of 18 racing laps. The instant torque of the electric karts proved a hit, delivering fast-paced action and keeping drivers on their toes from start to finish.
The racing was tight, competitive, and full of spirited overtaking, with every participant pushing hard to climb the leaderboard. There were some impressive driving displays, a few bold moves into corners, and plenty of friendly rivalry as participants battled for ultimate bragging rights. A fantastic day was had by all, proving once again that while our Cobras may be classics, the competitive spirit of the club is alive and well — whether behind the wheel of a V8 roadster or an electric kart.
Until next year… the challenge has been set.
