✨ We are delighted to welcome Gillian Welsh from Working Women Queensland to the IAASysters Brisbane 2026 speaker lineup!✨

As Director of WWQ, Gillian brings serious expertise to a topic every woman in the workforce needs to understand. A lawyer with over a decade in the legal assistance sector, her work has focused on access to civil justice for victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and people experiencing intersectional oppression.

WWQ is a statewide service providing free legal, industrial, and social work support for financially disadvantaged women and gender diverse people experiencing workplace issues, and has been doing so for over 30 years. Having them in the room for IAASysters Brisbane feels exactly right.

✨ Sally Foley-Lewis CSP is back for IAASysters Brisbane 2026 and we are delighted to have her!✨

Sally has been a fixture of the IAASysters program for years now, including joining us at our NZ event earlier this year. There's a reason she keeps coming back and our Systers keep asking for her.

A multi-award-winning leadership and productivity expert, author of The Productive Leader, and a Certified Speaking Professional, Sally's sessions are the ones delegates are still talking about on the way home. Presenting with confidence, managing nerves, handling tough questions - she makes it look easy and then teaches you how.

Brisbane is in for a treat.

🚨 MEMBER ALERT: new scam compliance requirement for some telcos 🚨

Under the new Scams Prevention Framework, telco providers will need to be members of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) for scam-related dispute resolution.

This applies to telcos providing voice and messaging services (excluding those delivered wholly over the internet).

AFCA membership is required by 1 September 2026, but applications must be submitted by 14 August 2026 to allow time for processing.

IAA is sharing this early so affected Members can check whether they are in scope and take action before the deadline.

Applications are open now:

✨ We are thrilled to welcome back Cheryl Alderman of Be Ultimate Coaching as a guest speaker for IAASysters Brisbane 2026!✨

Cheryl is our go-to for a reason. She's been integral to the IAASysters program, including our NZ events, and every cohort leaves her session with practical tools they actually use.

As a leadership consultant and founder of Be Ultimate Coaching, Cheryl brings real-world wisdom and the kind of energy that makes a room sit up. She's worked with organisations like Coca-Cola, Unilever, and Qantas, and she brings that same calibre of insight to our Systers.

We can't wait to see what she does with Brisbane.

Telecommunications may be essential to modern life, but how can it be regulated as an “essential service”?

Calls for tougher rules and heavier penalties give the impression that regulation can guarantee every network, device and online service will work, all the time.

In her latest blog, IAA CEO Narelle Clark challenges the claim that telecommunications is self-regulated, examines where responsibility begins and ends, and asks whether more regulation will improve reliability or simply add cost and complexity.

🦸‍♀️Sony Interactive Entertainment are back for their third year as a Silver Sponsor of IAASysters Brisbane 2026!🦸‍♀️

Not many tech companies outside the internet industry proper show up consistently for a program like this. Sony Interactive Entertainment does, and that ongoing commitment to supporting women in the industry means a lot.

Glad to have them back.
