It is with a sorry heart that I inform our members that yesterday we lost another of our Legends in the passing of Albert John Whipp. The achievements of Johnny are too many to mention but his contribution to Martial Arts and the military were extraordinary. Here are just a few relating to AMAHOF, he was one of our first AMAHOF members, inducted in 1997 only the second year since the foundation of AMAHOF, he was chair of the Sokeship Council from 2009-2012 and remained as a member until 2018. He was the Vice-President of AMAHOF from 2009 till 2017 and President from 2018-2019. I know he was really pleased to receive his 8th Dan from AMAHOF at the last Gala event in Canberra, a fitting tribute to a great martial artist. Anyone who has had the pleasure and privilege of meeting him would agree he was a true gentleman and deep thinker. A quiet achiever who gave so much to others in his life he will be sorely missed. Indeed, I personally will miss him a lot, when I met him in 2012 I had the honor of sitting with him on the train down from the Kuranda falls and listening to his stories of training military personnel in self-defence, which were always both entertaining and witty. He was a true Legend and deserved the status conferred on him by AMAHOF in 2015. Vale Albert John Whipp. Your mark has been made and will be remembered by many. Our thoughts go to his daughter Coralee and son-in-law Gordon who cared for him during his battle with Parkinsons. He rejoins his wife Arlene who also contributed greatly to AMAHOF.

Today, Yun Jung Do International proudly acknowledges and congratulates Ross Cameron on being announced as an inductee into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the World Karate Union Hall of Fame for 2026.

This recognition reflects a lifetime dedicated not only to martial arts excellence, but to the development of people through education, leadership, and service to the wider community.

For more than five decades, Master Cameron has devoted himself to the study, teaching, and evolution of martial arts across multiple disciplines. Through his work with Yun Jung Do International, Fightcross MMA & Fitness, seminars throughout Oceania, and the mentoring of students and instructors worldwide, he has consistently promoted martial arts as more than physical training alone.

His vision has always been clear:
Martial arts should be a vehicle for human development.

Through this philosophy, Master Cameron has worked to help students build confidence, discipline, resilience, leadership, and community connection — both on and off the training floor.

As the Chief Instructor of Yun Jung Do International and a longtime student of Grandmaster Yun, he has continued to carry forward the organisation’s values of developing the mind, building the body, nurturing the soul, and strengthening community.

These Hall of Fame inductions are a well-deserved acknowledgment of the impact he has had on students, instructors, martial arts organisations, and communities throughout Australia and internationally.

On behalf of Yun Jung Do International, we extend our sincere congratulations to Master Ross Cameron on this outstanding achievement and thank him for his continued dedication to the growth of martial arts education for future generations.
