Kim is the YouthCARE Chaplain at East Kimberley College! Read below ⭐️ → to learn more about him.

Kim Moore was the Chaplain of the Year at the Inaugural Governor's Chaplaincy Awards in 2023. He was nominated for this prestigious award due to his dedicated service to chaplaincy. As the full-time YouthCARE Chaplain at East Kimberley College for over 20 years, Kim has supported youth affected by su***de, domestic violence and addiction. Kim’s knowledge, experience and calm presence during change have made him highly respected by the school community.

Kim’s willingness to go the extra mile in afterschool clubs, councils and excursions means students at East Kimberly College have had the opportunity to learn new skills and grow.

When asked what his favourite part of being a chaplain is he said, "Meeting and working with a huge variety of personalities and people with vastly different life experience. Seeing positive change in people."

And just for fun, we aksed him, "if you could master one skill what would it be?" to which he said - painting. Alongside, "what's your favorite food?" Donuts! 🍩🍩🍩

It's 120 days until Christmas... not that we're counting. Share the 'The Gift' that is the story of Christmas in your local school this year!

The Gift: The Story of Christmas, is a one-hour presentation developed by YouthCARE for churches to present in their local schools in the lead up to Christmas. It’s an opportunity to connect with and support a school by offering a free fun and engaging presentation.

For Abigail*, six-hour school days felt like twelve.

While friends seemed quick to learn, she felt drained. Abigail’s dyslexia meant she worked twice as hard each day in the classroom. She wanted to feel confident at school. Confident in her abilities.

Chaplain Di noticed and started wondering whether there was somewhere at school that could offer students like Abigail something different.
That’s when Di established the Grounding Garden, and invited Abigail along.

“The school garden is intentionally used as a calm, nurturing environment to support students’ social and emotional wellbeing, where they engage in purposeful grounding experiences,” says Kinross Primary School Principal, Therese Gorton. The school’s psychologist, Thomas Moore, says the garden “gives children space to think, feel and connect with themselves.”

Together, we can level the playing field for West Aussie athletes. Register to participate in SportsCARE10!

Over 10,000 West Aussie athletes, coaches, and their families have a SportsCARE Chaplain consistently showing up for them in moments of celebration, change, and trauma. That critical care comes at no financial cost to athletes or their club.

This October, we’re on a mission to keep it that way. And to expand SportsCARE's support to even more sporting communities. Because everyone deserves someone in their corner.

Chaplains, coaches, parents and players from diverse sporting communities across WA will be banding together for SportsCARE10: walking, running, cycling, or skating at least 10kms around the Swan River Bridges Loop on the 10th of October 2026.

From Aug 22nd - 28th, we’re celebrating Children’s Book Week 📚
Here are FIVE ways to celebrate books this week in your family or classroom.

1. Swap the school-run playlist for an audiobook
2. Create a cosy reading nook
3. Read a book where it’s set. A beach? The zoo? A grandparent’s house?
4. Host a reading picnic
5. Support your local library

We are so grateful to all the support we receive from our local governments and community!

Last week Serena Williamson, Deputy Mayor of the City of Gosnells presented YouthCARE with a certificate of recognition in conjunction with their generous donation that helps us continue the work of chaplaincy in the area!

Meanwhile in the North we hosted our first Joondalup YouthCARE Support Network. Our councils and support networks comprise of members from local churches and the community to champion chaplaincy in the area.

132km of running in 19 hours ✅
An incredible effort by our Collie YouthCARE Chaplain Erik who participated in Birdy's Backyard Run for his Ridiculously Good challenge over the weekend. Help us congratulate him on his effort in the comments!

Here is what Erik had to say; "Time to pack up after an amazing weekend down here at Birdys Backyard Ultra Marathon!

132kms for me, 19 hours of running! Definitely the longest run I’ve ever done 😂🏃🏼

Huge thanks to everyone who has helped raise around $12,000 to help school kids in Collie and around Western Australia through chaplaincy!!! You are amazing!!! Thanks so much!!!!

If you haven’t donated yet and would like to do so, the donation links are still active at https://ap1.hubs.ly/H01fZsw0

Now to recover and plan what to do next year to support the kids….

Bless you all!!
Lots of love,
Erik”
