With so much information floating around online right now, it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed or anxious about what’s happening with your funding and support.

Here is what you actually need to know:

❌ "The NDIS is being scrapped"
✅ FALSE. The scheme is continuing. Your plan is not disappearing.

❌ "My plan will change immediately"
✅ FALSE. Current plans remain active. Rollouts for the new framework are happening gradually over the coming years—not overnight.

❌ "Plan reviews are being shut down"
✅ FALSE. If your circumstances or functional needs genuinely change, you can still request a reassessment.

From 1 July 2026, the NDIS is progressively introducing new sector reforms. These updates are designed to elevate quality standards, enhance provider compliance, and strengthen safeguards across the sector over time.

Future plan reviews will place a closer emphasis on evidence-based support needs and functional impact. You may also notice clearer documentation requirements for claims and funding management.

🔹 For Supported Independent Living (SIL) & Platform Services
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is introducing mandatory registration and stricter compliance framework expectations for these specific high-risk and digital categories to ensure stronger oversight.

🧭 What “Choice and Control” Really Means in the NDIS

“Choice and control” is a core idea in the NDIS, but many people think it just means picking which provider to use. In reality, it’s about you leading the decisions in your life, not the system, your planner, or your support worker.

Choice and control means:

You decide who supports you, what kind of support you receive, when and where it happens, and how it fits your goals.

You can say no to supports that don’t match your values, culture, or comfort, as long as your needs are still met.

Your voice stays at the centre of planning meetings, reviews, and daily support decisions, not just the paperwork.

Many participants feel they have little real control, even though the NDIS says choice and control is important. This can happen because:

Information is confusing or overwhelming.

Some workers or planners act like “this is the only way,” instead of explaining options.

There is fear that speaking up might affect funding or support.

Remember: you are the expert on your own life. You can:

Set clear goals (independence, work, study, social life).

Ask questions in planning meetings: “What are my options? Can I try this differently?”

Use a support coordinator or advocate to help you explain your choices, not make them for you.

Choice and control isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being listened to, being offered options, and having the right to change your mind.
