It was a tough day at the office for both squads, but there were still plenty of positives to take away from the weekend.
The Reserves showed tremendous commitment by taking the field with a bare 11 players. Despite the challenge of having no substitutes, the lads worked hard, battled for each other, and never stopped competing. As the game wore on, fatigue naturally began to play a factor and the match opened up late, resulting in a 5-0 defeat. While the result wasn't what we wanted, the resilience and determination shown by the players cannot be questioned.
The First Team started brightly and played some excellent football, taking control of the match early. Amar Jehel led the way with two well-taken goals as the boys put themselves in a strong position. The game changed momentum following a penalty decision, and despite a spirited effort, the lads were unable to hold on, eventually going down 3-2.
Football can be a game of fine margins, and while the results didn't fall our way today, there were plenty of encouraging signs across both teams. The effort, character, and commitment shown by the players continue to reflect the values of our club. We will learn from this weekend, stay united, and focus on bouncing back stronger in the weeks ahead.
