***Important Announcement***

'Previously - Pelaw Grange 3 dogs reported dead during a heatwave'

We feel it in the public interest to make the following important announcement.

The RSPCA are not leading the Pelaw Grange investigation. The GBGB are instead leading with their own 'internal investigation'

This does not give us confidence!

We specifically asked the RSPCA to 'lead' with a fully independent investigation into the fatalities at Pelaw Grange when we reported our information to them.

We have now been advised by the RSPCA that the GBGB are holding their own internal investigation.

We cannot explain why the RSPCA are not fully independently leading this investigation although they have given us their account we cannot accept it, therefore people should make their own enquiries if they are unhappy.

According to the industry 3 dogs had died however reports we received from insiders claimed at least 6 dogs had died.

*** Why Caged do NOT agree with an internal investigation by the GBGB ***

1) We believe this is a conflict of interest. The GBGB is NOT independent of the racing industry.

2) The track where the fatalities are said to have occurred is a Star Sports track basically run by a betting/gambling establishments that rely on its dogs and trainers for profit.

3) RISK - if a trainer discards his licence at any point of the investigation the GBGB loses the right to investigate.

4) Outcome - Unlike with the RSPCA where any guilty party can be prosecuted under the AWA2006 - the racing industry do NOT use the court process, instead a disciplinary committee decide whether a penalty is necessary.
We often find these disciplinary results are extremely poor even where there are fatalities.
Meagre fines or a slap on the wrist!!
