Zambia plans to complete a $1.1 billion oil refinery by 2028, initially transporting crude by road before shifting to rail.

The refinery, led by Fujian Xiangxin Corp., will process 60,000 barrels per day, meeting domestic demand and enabling exports.

This project is part of Zambia’s effort to boost energy security amid global supply disruptions and reduce reliance on fuel imports.

The energy complex will also feature LPG bottling, bitumen production, lubricant blending, and a 130 MW power plant.
