Our Story

Huntington's disease (HD) is an inherited disease affecting areas in the brain which control, movement thinking and emotion. It has a slow progression, and symptoms gradually worsen over time.

Huntington's WA was formed specifically to improve the quality of life for people with Huntington's Disease, their families and carers in Western Australia. The Association is dedicated to providing individual advocacy, support and education for the Huntington's community.

Huntington's WA is a non-profit organisation managed by a voluntary board. The Association provides support through the following program areas:

Individual and Family Services

Education and Information Services

Service Development and

Research

Services are also provided to service providers, health professionals and the general public.

The Association is a member of the Australian National Huntington's Association, a loose collective of State Associations, which facilitates the sharing of information resources, policy development, benchmarking in service delivery and provides a conduit for current research developments.

Huntington's WA is one of fifteen neurological support organisations accommodated in the Centre for Neurological Support in Nedlands, WA.

Mission 'To enable the best possible quality of life for people with Huntington's Disease, their families and carers, through advocacy, support and education'.
