Congratulations to Taffy our fabulous friend from Tunas Hijau Indonesia who graduated last week.

Taffy has participated in many MK activities over the years but most importantly Taffy joined us in Australia for one unit of work to complete her degree.

We 💚 supporting young people through partnerships and collaborations that build a skill base they can use in the pursuit of making the world a better place.

Sifting through the archive.

Shout out to Anna, one of our first student volunteers from Murdoch University many moons ago.

Anna has transitioned from student volunteer to Council member to Chairperson. Anna and others like her hold the history of MK in their memory. Today along with other Alumni members we sifted through thirty years of archive photos, letters from Ministers, sponsors and supporters to build a Thirty Years - Thirty Trailblazer projects timeline with youth leads and those who helped make ideas become reality.

FROM THE ARCHIVE

In 1995 four children from WA took part in this first environmental children’s conference in the world. Hundreds of children gathered in Eastbourne, UK to take part in workshops and presentations and have a say about the state of the world.

Funded by UN Environment Programme and Eastbourne Borough Council the conference was to inspire hundreds of children into action.

The four children met after the conference in Perth, regrouped with a bunch of supporting adults, and the first youth led children’s environmental conference was born - a collaboration between South Perth Primary School City of South Perth, Perth Zoo and local business Kareelya Property Group.

Meet Max

Max is a Millennium Kids Youth Board member.

Max started his MK journey after he created an art exhibition to raise funds for Gondwana Link. Max joined the Youth Board of MK after Cat, CEO, MK, bought one of his art pieces.

Max ran workshops with MK through the WA leadership programs in the SW teaching the participants how to use art as meditation.

Max loves underwater hockey and will play underwater hockey for the WA U 19 mix team this year at Nationals. He also loves the magnificent environment he lives in. Local business, Fair Harvest Permaculture, gifted Max a workshop with Simon Cherriman to learn how to build cocky bird boxes.

Max has been working on an adventure map for kids and families who visit Fair Harvest. He wants them to slow down, learn about the sustainability features at the site, visit the Cocky box and take away ideas to put sustainability into action.

Max is just about ready to trial the map with some buddies before it is gifted to Fair Harvest to use with their visitors .
