The Sunnah is not something separate from our religion. It is through the teachings and example of the Prophet ﷺ that we understand how to live by the guidance of Allah.

Across the world today, there is growing confusion and debate around the concept of gender. What was once understood is now the subject of intense debate, with changing ideas about what it means to be a man or a woman.

In this important and timely lecture, the prevailing ideas about gender in contemporary *society* , how these ideas have evolved, and the ways they influence our worldview, behaviour and sense of identity will be explored.

We will then examine these questions through two important lenses: *science* and *Islam* . What does science tell us about s*x and gender? And how does Islam understand the nature, purpose and identity of men and women?
