Three cheers for our volunteers — the quiet champions behind every moment of joy, courage, and achievement. 💛🖤

This National Volunteers Week, we pause to celebrate the hearts that beat steadily behind Special Olympics WA. The early mornings, the patient guidance, the unwavering encouragement — these are the threads that weave our community together.

Each day this week, we will share the stories of our incredible volunteers — the people who give their time, energy, and kindness so generously, asking for nothing in return but the chance to make a difference.

Lauren, one of our dedicated netballers, recently stepped into her local IGA and became part of something bigger than just a single moment — supporting the Community Chest initiative and helping raise awareness for Special Olympics WA.💛🖤

A big shoutout to our athlete Leon 💛 🖤

Leon, a member of our State Swimming Team, a dedicated Bocce player, and a Playing for All coach, recently took part in the IGA Community Chest initiative by visiting his local IGA and showing support for Special Olympics WA.

By choosing participating products like Golden Circle and M&M’s, Leon is helping raise funds that go directly towards supporting athletes in our community. It’s a simple act, but one that makes a real difference.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Leon 👏🏻, both for your achievements in sport and for the way you continue to give back and lead by example ✨

We’d love to see more of our athletes getting involved and being part of this amazing initiative.

A heartfelt thank you to Vineeta, the friendly team at Wembley IGA, and everyone supporting Special Olympics WA through the Community Chest initiative. Your kindness and support help create more opportunities for our athletes to grow, connect, and feel included.

A special thank you as well to our athletes Sara and Sophie for getting involved and helping spread the word. Seeing you both take part and represent the spirit of Special Olympics means so much.

Shoutout to our amazing netballers Rose and Tonia 💛🖤
This month, they’ve been out visiting their local IGAs and proudly spreading the word about Special Olympics and the Community Chest initiative. It’s so great to see our athletes taking the lead and making an impact in their own communities.

They’ve also been bringing that same energy to Unified Netball training on Thursday evenings — and we love to see it!
