Celebrating our Partner & Beneficiary ... Newton Primary School

Friends of the Community are pleased to have donated $1,200 to support Newton Primary School in 2026.

This contribution will assist Year 6 students with bus hire/pool entry costs for swimming lesson participation, support Year 5 students to attend a Leadership Day, and help Year 6 students take part in Big Week Out activities.

Our ongoing partnership will also continue with Newton Primary School through Friends of the Community making hot rolls available for sale at the school’s Athletics Carnival in Term 3.

Upwards and Onwards Newton Primary School!

We are locked in for Tuesday racing - The prelude to Round 7 of the Auscycling WA BMX Racing Series at Cockburn BMX this Sunday, 23rd August. If this is your final alarm to get nominated for Sunday, you have about 1 hour before they close.

❌ NO “DROPPING IN” THIS WEEK
Due to the increase of riders at club nights this week and for rider safety, we are enforcing - No dropping in from the berms. Please complete full laps from the gate. It should be busy with riders looking to dial in the track. If you don’t ride Cockburn track often, ease into it and take your time to build confidence and speed. Speak to a club volunteer, if your child needs some help on the start hill.

🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️VOLUNTEERS
We desperately need more volunteers for Sunday. The event needs your help to make it a success. We can all do a little to lighten the load. While you are at the track this week, please put your name on the Sunday volunteer roster. It might parking assistant, sweeping the start hill, running water to volunteers, stocking toilets, practice flags, lollie and raffle tables, a shift in the canteen, assisting with running the King and Queen event, etc. There are plenty of small tasks if you are unable to commit a large portion of time.

🚳 NO RIDING ZONE
Riding bikes in the club room is not permitted. Please carry bikes to and from the bike store room. The carpets are vacuumed after each club night and we want to minimise the work at the end of the night.

🎟️ SPEEDWELL BIKE RAFFLE
The 1988 Speedwell bike raffle ticket sales are open selling fast. Tickets are available at the nomination office at the track or please email or message Cockburn BMX - [email protected]

🌟 Meet Connor, one of our wonderful young volunteers!

Connor has been part of the Friends of the Community family since Year 7. Now in Year 10, life is getting busier, but he still makes time to volunteer and give back to his community. 💚

That commitment matters. Every hour given, every helping hand and every time Connor turns up contributes to something bigger. 🙌

This National Youth Volunteer Week, we celebrate Connor and the many young people who choose to share their time, energy and talents with their communities.

👏 Connor, we are proud to have you as part of the team. Thank you for giving your time so generously and showing that young people can make a difference at any age.

💚 Thank you, Connor!
