How's your week been?
Hope you all stayed safe!
Storm damage to our garden fence. We've lodged reports with Town of Victoria Park for assistance.
The forever-leaning cypress tree lost a huge limb which crushed part of our front fence.
Our memorial bench to beloved long-standing member John Smith was broken 😒 πŸ’”
Fortunately, not much other damage in general.

LOVE πŸ₯° OUR VOLUNTEERS

Thanks, Helmuth, for coming in to do some work on the compost bay upgrade ahead of the storm yesterday. Big ups πŸ‘ to the project team of Helmuth, Sandy, Geoff and Mark who have made good progress so far.

Inclement weather this weekend has created some delays. We will resume work ASAP when weather is a little bit more kind to our electric tools...

Progress so far:
Dismantling of old structure
Reuse of sleepers for retaining soil behind shed
New structure has been largely constructed
Outgoing bay with ready compost is operational again

Outstanding:
Re-pave area where weedtea bins are going
Securing roof structure to the ground
Cladding of remaining compost bays with corrugated iron sheets
Prepare new signs
Update documentation with new photos and instructions

Projected sponsored by the good Peeps at Victoria Park Rotary πŸ’š

ZERO-WASTE PROJECT IN PROGRESS! Our long-awaited compost bay upgrade is almost done! Our compost working group have done a great job replacing the worn timber railway sleepers with bays made from repurposed plastic pallets, DOUBLING the capacity in the process.
Picnics galore for our lovely volunteers and also the friendly family of seven magpies who came and helped to extract residual worms from the site πŸͺ± πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘Œ
Big thanks and huge shout-out to Victoria Park Rotary for helping to fund our project πŸ™πŸΌ.
