SO MUCH COMMUNITY LOVE 💓💚 AND JOY 🥰
Massive thanks to everyone who came to our Open Day on a stunning Kambarang morning yesterday to help make it a success. We clocked up over 150 visitors, one of our highest turnouts.

Our garden was looking amazing, a vibrant riot of colour, fun and smiles.

Deep-felt appreciation 🙏 to all members, friends and family who helped out behind the scenes with organising, preps and on the day, greeting visitors, running tours, setting up and packing up, minding stalls, delivering talks and activities, donating cakes, goodies and plants and their precious time.

It was beautiful and made us proud and humbled to see so much community goodwill, love, kindness, camaraderie and teamwork, living up to our garden motto of 'Come Grow With Us' 🌱💚.

With H5 bird flu and the black and white bird disease currently afflicting bird populations, it's important to keep an eye on our birds.

The Aussie Bird Count starts TOMORROW - Monday 19 October 🦅🦆!

This annual citizen science event is a fun, easy way for all of us to take a national snapshot of the birds around us as we connect with nature. With just 20 minutes, you can help build a picture of how our feathered friends are faring and contribute to something that really counts.

Just spend 20 minutes in your favourite outdoor space and record the birds you see during that period. You can submit your results using the app or the web form and there’s a built-in “bird finder” tool, to help you identify birds you’re unsure of.

Right now, one in six Australian birds faces the threat of extinction, making it more important than ever to pay attention.

ZERO WASTE HACK: 3 fun things, 1 old corflute!

No Grubs'n'Bugs yesterday, but we still had fun making giant photo frames for tomorrow's Open Day! Thanks to F & M for helping 🥰

Very excited about how quickly and well our self-funded raised bed project is coming along, in time for our Open Day this Sunday 18 October, 10am-2pm.

Little Loads delivered some lovely veggie soil to complement our own garden-made compost.

Normally we would make our own garden soil in our standard ground level allotment beds, however, due to the volume required, we had to purchase and order in soil.

Next step is to number them. Stencilling on corrugated surfaces is fun!

DID YOU KNOW?
You only need 20-25cm of growing medium (veggie soil) for most vegetables and flowers grown in this style of raised bed.
You do not need to fill up the entire bed with soil.
Fill up the base progressively in layers with sand and organic material such as green waste (weeds, branches, tree prunings) and cardboard. We finished off with compost and veggie soil for the top layer (20cm deep).
