June Community Dinner - Long weekend in WA - Foundation Day - Celebrating 2 years in the beautiful grounds and community of St Paul's Anglican Church, Beaconsfield, WA - Record attendance - Abundant Joy!
‘We gathered together 2 years on and we are a beautiful community of people who all come together as individuals, each one unique and special.
We see each other just as we are wherever we are at and together we are community. Pitching in and pulling together to share in who we are and what we do.

Rachel's Joy in Palmyra has been open for just over a year. It's a three-bedroom house for women, ready to make the changes in their lives and to find their feet again, run by Mauz and the Cana WA team.

There is art therapy on site twice a month and a third monthly session at our hub space. A table full of supplies, a few laughs, the occasional masterpiece. Followed by a shared meal.

Down the road at St Paul's Hall in Beaconsfield, the team runs activities for the community to share laughs with friends: Monthly dinners, birthdays, craft, and games.

Every Wednesday morning, the food truck opens up at the Fremantle football oval for anyone to drop in for a barista coffee, the best toasties in Freo, and a friendly catch-up.

Cana has been in Fremantle for nine years. No government funding, just donors who make it possible.

Tonight’s creative and Joyfilled Art therapy session at Rachel’s Joy with our delightful Mim’s having taken us on a journey with these fabulous pieces that have been added to and changed over several sessions.
It’s not about the Art and we are all not Artists, however there is some amazing creativity, connection and healing.

A message from one of our community members this week:

"Thank you to Cana Communities. I have been sick and on a waiting list for surgery. It has been difficult to walk, pick things up or carry anything for myself. I don't have family around, and the loss of my independence has been hard. Tonight I came home after the Cana circle and a marvellous Moroccan-style meal, had a nap with a full belly, and then woke up reaching for a pen, wanting to draw for the first time in over a year. Thank you Cana, Mauz and Allison for just being you."
