what’s gammin? who’s gammin?

setting a 43% GHG emissions reduction target for 2030 while massively increasing the source of domestic and international GHG emissions, that’s gammin.

for those who don't understand the long history of how the multinational oil & gas industry undermined Australian's access to our own fossil gas at affordable prices, this article lays it all out.

WA is the only state in Australia with a domestic reservation deal on offshore fossil gas to protect local access at affordable prices until such time as we don't need it any more, as former Premier Colin Barrnett recently pointed out, (a decision by a previous WA Labor Government).

this is written by Oliver Yates, someone who knows the ins and outs of energy sector very well, Oliver Yates was previously the inaugural Director of the CEFC securing bi-partisan support for their activities and Executive Director at Macquarie Bank for more than 20 years, now at Sentile Investment. Oliver also ran as a "teal" independent at the 2019 election in Kooyong and paved the way for the 2022 unseating of Josh Frydenberg by Dr Monique Ryan, both focusing largely on a climate action, integrity of Government and gender equity issues.

The problems we face today with gas prices and supply are a result of decisions made almost 30 years ago that have been systematically ignored by governments.

Only a few days left to appeal this decision on sustainability grounds (action on climate change consistent with the Paris Agreement ambition of limiting warming to under 2.0 ºC leaves no room for more mega-polluting FF projects).

climate change is of course the joker in the pack, don't hit zero emissions ASAP and we can't protect any ecosystem in Australia.

habitat loss, mining and water consumption/pollution in agriculture also have big impacts. 50% of the Great Barrier Reef was already dead prior to the mass bleaching events of 2016/17, largely because of sedimentation and nutrient loading in outflows in rivers like Fitzroy River and Burdiken River from livestock production, plus overfishing on the GBR.

Climate change, mining, pollution, invasive species and habitat loss are outlined in the five-yearly report that has been released, with Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek laying the blame squarely at the feet of the previous government.
