This week we celebrated Val Dragon’s 80th birthday. Val is a valued member of our choir who works hard behind the scenes to keep the choir ticking along. She organises our social events, is a member of the committee that overseas the day to day running of the choir and regularly brings food for afternoon tea. Thank you Val for all you do for us all.

Getting into the spirit of the grand final. Our choir member Steve Walker is an avid fan. A Ca****la West Chorus are off to America in 2027 to compete in the SingUnited International Competition.

Today the choir sang to The Gathering Northern suburbs Social Group. The group meets monthly where they have guest speakers, music, a quiz and share lunch together. Our choir director, Bernard, opened the morning with a range of familiar songs which was followed by the local police providing information on safety and security. The choir performed a set of old favourites such as Blue Moon and It's a Wonderful World and finished with a spirited rendition of AC DC's It's A Long Way to the Top. Thank you to "The Gathering" for the invitation to sing to you all.

Many congratulations @ School of Hard Knocks choir on both your celebratory concert and twenty years of inspiring work. Spirit of the Streets choir will reach that milestone in 2027 and looking forward to celebrating our journey and all the people who have got us so far and supported our amazing musical director, Bernard Carney.

We feel privileged to sing first every year and enjoy the singing with others and listening to all the performances, from solo through to choirs.
Thanks go to all the organisers and volunteers. Guildford Songfest is a brilliant and happy occasion every year and we already look forward to next year.

The Spirit of the Streets choir opened the Guildford Songfest on the weekend. This is always a favourite festival for choir members as we get to see many other choirs perform and join in on singing workshops. This year we enjoyed learning a few shanty songs taught by She Shants and The Lost Quays.

Today was a sad day for choir members as we remembered our dear friend Sally who died after a short illness. Sally travelled each week from Mandurah and helped out on the welcome desk with Harry and Rose. Sally performed at gigs often arriving first after a long commute. We will miss her friendly smile and the warm welcome she gave us each week.

Birthdays are always celebrated at SOS and today we had 3 birthdays, Tina, Helen and Harry. Harry shared with us a recent citation from the NSW Govt for his volunteer work with Disaster Relief Australia during the 2022/23 floods. Each week Harry welcomes members to choir, records the attendance and ensures visitors are settled in and introduced to members. Volunteers like Harry help make our community richer and stronger. Well done Harry.
