WA Apiarists' Society The WA Apiarists Society has over 1000 members who meet to learn, share and promote hobby beekeeping

The passionate bee hobbyist was called in this week to handle a swarm that had set up shop on the fence at 10 Swan Street.

“People don’t really know what to do with them. If you’ve got a suit, which I do, it’s not too hard. This winter one of my hives died, so I’ll probably keep this swarm."

She said the number of people keeping bees in their backyard was higher than most people thought.

“Quite a few people have hives hidden away you wouldn’t know about,” she said.
