Sports Ministry - YWAM Perth

Sports Ministry - YWAM Perth Advancing the purposes of God by engaging with people where they do life in their love for sport, fitness, and nutrition. What we do!

Impact Through Sport

We run sport skill days for children, community sport camps, encourage the fellowship of YWAM Perth staff through a weekly sport night and morning fitness. We invest in and serve existing sport events throughout the city and state. These include, but are not limited to Western Australia's State Youth Games (SYG), Gi Games, Goldfield Games, and Master's Games. We also compete

in sporting events, leagues, and competitions. Enhancing Life through Fitness

Physical fitness is the freedom from illness and disease and allows one to perform their vocational and recreational tasks while minimizing the risk of injury. Our aim is to help any person be physically fit so that they may accomplish their destiny and work out their life's calling. By working towards various qualifications, our hope is to impact and influence people's lives both physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally through the sphere of health and fitness. Evangelism

Sport and fitness provides an opportunity to engage with people where they do life and participate in their passions and interests. Using our love for sport and fitness, we regularly go into areas of the city to meet with people, build genuine relationship, and share with them the love of Jesus. Community sport events also provide a platform to publicly demonstrate and share the love of Jesus to many. Transforming Spheres of Sport & Fitness

We believe that there is a place for the sport and fitness professional to advance the purposes of God. These professionals have access to people's lives on a regular and daily basis that many in full-time ministry do not. Our vision is to equip fitness and sport enthusiasts with a biblical worldview, employable skills, and qualifications to impact and transform the sphere of sport, fitness, nutrition, and wellness so that they can help people live life to the fullest while also fulfilling their calling as effectively as they can. Outreach

The love for sport and fitness opens doors to communities and nations all over the world. Sport is a tool to connect with people regardless of culture and language. By engaging in local outreach and traveling into the Nations we build relationships, share the Gospel, and train in fitness and nutrition. People come together around sport to celebrate, build community, and instill hope. Sporting events also provide a broad and public platform to promote advocacy for social and cultural issues to be transformed in various communities. Education

Education is a key component of sustained transformation by providing a deeper understanding of why and how to be physically fit. Through fitness and nutrition seminars and personal advising, individuals are equipped with the tools to improve their physical health and performance by caring for their whole person; body, mind, soul, and spirit. We also teach and encourage character through understanding the rules of a sport while promoting excellence through skills training. Ministry Opportunities

You will have the opportunity to engage with people in their passions and where they do life through your common love of sport and fitness. You bring your strengths, gifts, passions, and ideas to strengthen what we already do, but also create new things with God in the area of sport and wellness.

The last week our ministry ran a soccer camp for kids in years 1-7 during their school break. This year was our third time running this camp and we saw a record number of kids attend, with an average of 32 kids per day and 52 different kids throughout the week. It ran for a total of 3 days, we had one day focused on passing, one on dribbling and finished the week on everyone’s favorite, shooting!

Every Tuesday we make our way down to a local park in Perth for soccer. Yesterday we were talking to one of the players who has been playing there for a while and were able to pray for him and invite him to church we go to. Through the weeks he has really opened up to our team, sharing stories from his life. It was very encouraging to pray for him and hear his willingness to experience God.

We as a ministry have been helping run a youth group for indigenous youth every week for the past couple months. On Saturday we had our end of year wrap up and Christmas party where we saw almost 40 people come out. We were blessed with an abundance of food and desserts throughout the night. Our ministry performed a very spontaneous improv skit of the nativity scene followed by a bible lesson on the birth of Jesus, as you could imagine the skit was quite humorous. It has been great getting to know these kids and invest into them. We look forward to getting started with them again in January and continue to make new relationships.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to volunteer with Red Frogs at the last Ashes test at the WACA grounds. Essentially we handed out free red frogs, water and sunscreen to the thousands of people in attendance. Awesome opportunity to engage with many people as well as brush up on our cricket knowledge!

We just returned back from our 3 weeks in Manila where we hosted a city wide tournament.
The Paranaque City invitational turned out to be a huge success! Pictured here is our crew with the overall champions Barangay Don Bosco.
Overall we saw 56 salvations during our time and many reached out to! Its clear to see God is moving among the people.
