Bibra Lake parkrun is held in a public space, which is shared with the general public. To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, participants should always give space to other path users, by keeping to the left, and run or walk in small groups.
All users of the path should use good etiquette, which means that everyone, from morning walkers to cyclists and fellow parkrunners, can enjoy the route safely.
Key Etiquette for Shared Paths:
- Keep Left and Pass Right
- Always stay to the left side of the path unless you are safely overtaking someone.
- Run in Small Formations.
- Avoid running more than two abreast, as this blocks the path for oncoming or faster users.
- Give Way: Always give space to members of the general public, cyclists, and families.
- Moving over will not hurt your time or stop you from getting a personal best (PB).
- Listen to Marshals: Pay attention to the directions of event marshals, who are there to guide you and warn you of approaching path users.
- Mind your Dogs and Prams:
- Dogs must be kept on a short, handheld lead within reach at all times.
- If you are pushing a pram, be mindful of the space you take up and start at a sensible position in the crowd based on your pace.
If you are at the front of a pack or part of a long pack, call out to the group behind you to warn others to move over so that no one gets hurt.
A simple “Bike Up” or “Walker Up” or “Walker Up Move Left” can help communicate to people who can’t see the danger ahead.
We want to see everyone enjoy their experience at Bibra Lake parkrun whilst being safe at the same time.
