Karrinyup Scout Group Interested in joining scouts? Try it out first for a few weeks, register your interest by sending us an email to [email protected]

Scouting is open to both girls and boys. Will you like it? You never know until you give it a go. Weekly meetings:
Joeys (5.5-8yrs) Tuesday 5.10pm - 6.10pm
Cubs (8-11yrs) Tuesday 6.15pm - 7.45pm
Scouts (11-15yrs) Thursday 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Venturers (15-18yrs) In recess

**Karrinyup Scouts at the Mali Medal! 🏕️**

Over the weekend, a few of our Karrinyup Scouts teamed up with the Wembley Downs Scout Group for the Mali Medal competition at Manjedel Adventure Centre, and what a weekend it was!

We also had one of our Venturers there, competing alongside the Lidlow Scout Group as part of the Nananas team. Great to see our members getting involved across groups! 🙌

The Scouts planned their own menus, packed their own food and supplies, and then had to fend for themselves for the whole competition. No parents, no shortcuts, just teamwork, problem solving and a lot of resourcefulness.

And the rain? It turned up, but it didn't dampen a single spirit. Our Scouts faced it with courage and plenty of laughs, which is exactly what "Believe in Myself" is all about. 🌧️

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to Wembley Downs and Lidlow for being such great teammates and hosts. We're so proud of you all!

What a weekend! 🏕️

Huge congratulations to our Joey and Cub Scouts from Karrinyup on an awesome sleepover camp! From pitching tents to marshmallows by the campfire, our young Scouts really leaned into every activity with enthusiasm and teamwork.

It was fantastic to watch them support each other along the way - whether it was helping a mate wrestle a tent, cheering each other on during games, or working together on their navigation skills for their bushcraft badge 1. That's what Scouting is all about: learning by doing, and growing together as a community.

Add in a campfire, a movie night, and a scenic lake walk to finish things off, and it's safe to say a great time was had by all!

A big thank you to our amazing leaders and couple of parent volunteers who made this weekend possible, and to all the families who trusted us with their Joeys and Cubs. We're so proud of every one of you! 🧡💙

🏕️ What a great night at Karrinyup Scouts! 🏕️

Our Joeys and Cubs were busy bees this week, getting hands-on with some real outdoor adventure skills! 🙌

🩹 Putting together their own personal first aid kits - learning why each item matters and how it could help them or a mate one day.

⛺ Pitching in to assemble tents - teamwork, problem-solving, and a few laughs along the way
🛏️ Rolling up their own bed rolls - mastering a skill every camper needs.

It's amazing to watch our young people learn by doing, build confidence, and support each other every step of the way. This is what Scouting is all about - practical skills, real responsibility, and having fun while growing into capable, resilient young people. 💪
A huge thank you to our helpers who made tonight possible, and to all our Joeys and Cubs for diving in with such enthusiasm!

🎉 Great to see our Scouts diving into the world of AI last week!
On Thursday night at Karrinyup Scout Hall, the kids got stuck into learning about artificial intelligence and came up with some genuinely creative and interesting games of their own.

Huge thanks to Beth from the WA Data Science Innovation Hub at Curtin University for running such an engaging and informative session during our regular section night. The scouts were curious, creative and clearly having fun with it.

Who knows, we might have a few budding data scientists in the making right here in our troop! 💻🤖

🧦 Sock Puppet Theatre at Karrinyup Cubs! 🎭

What an evening it was at Cub Scouts this week! Our Cub patrols got creative making their very own sock puppets, then brought them to life performing hilarious skits for the pack.

The creativity on display was fantastic .. googly eyes, wool hair, all sorts of puppet personalities came to life! And the giggles? Non-stop. There’s nothing quite like watching our Cubs work together, think on their feet, and have an absolute ball doing it.

Moments like these are what Scouting is all about : learning by doing, working as a team, and building the confidence to get up and perform in front of your mates.

Well done to all our Cubs and their fearless leader kookaburra / Jason for another great night. Go Cubs! 🐺

🎭 SHOWTIME AT KARRINYUP SCOUTS! 🎭

What an absolute joy it was to watch our Joey Scouts this week! As part of our Showtime-themed Scout week, our Joeys have been busy planning and practicing their very own theatre performances and the laughter and giggles said it all. 😄

From dreaming up silly scenes to rehearsing their lines (and forgetting them, and laughing even harder!), our Joeys showed us what “Learning by Doing” really looks like. They practiced working together, built their confidence to perform in front of others, and most importantly had an absolute ball doing it.

Moments like these are what Scouting is all about: trying something new, believing in yourself, and having fun with your mates along the way. 🌟

A huge thank you to our amazing parent helpers and older scouts Alice and Sophie for helping putting together such a fantastic themed week, and to all our Joey families for supporting their little performers!

Can’t wait to see what they come up with next. Stay tuned for more Showtime shenanigans! 🎬✨

🔬✨ What a fantastic night at Scitech! ✨🔬

Huge congratulations to all our Cub Scouts who joined us tonight, alongside Cubs from right across the metro area! It was brilliant to see so many young Scouts diving headfirst into hands-on science, testing, experimenting, and asking “why?” and “how?” at every turn.

This is Learning by Doing in action : swap textbooks for real experiments, and watch curiosity take over. Whether it was their first exhibit or their fifth, every Cub walked away having discovered something new about the world around them (and probably had a few “whoa!” moments along the way too 😄).

A massive thank you to Scitech for hosting such a fun and engaging evening. Nights like these are what Scouting is all about.. building confidence, sparking curiosity, and having a great time while doing it.

Great things happen when you get outdoors - or in this case, into a science centre …. and give it a go! 🧡

🚀 STEM Night at Karrinyup Scouts! 🔬

What a fantastic Thursday night we had! Our Scouts swapped the campfire for the workbench and dove headfirst into some awesome STEM challenges. 🛠️

First up, engineering brains were put to the test building popstick catapults - cue lots of laughter, a few wonky designs, and plenty of "let's try that again" moments as our Scouts experimented with tension, leverage, and trajectory (aka how far can we launch this thing!). 🎯

Then it was on to our weight-bearing paper bridge challenge, where teams had to think like real engineers - designing, testing, and reinforcing their structures to hold as much weight as possible before... well, let's just say a few bridges met a dramatic end! 😂

It was brilliant to see our Scouts problem-solving together, learning from every collapsed bridge and mis-fired catapult, and building resilience and teamwork along the way. That's Scouting in action .. learning by doing! 💪
