Zoology is coming to Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre for one night only on 24 July at 7:30pm. This work originally came out of a memory I had of telling adults I wanted to be a "ballerina and a gorilla" when I grew up and wondering if I had ever really become wild or graceful and lived up to this promise to myself. It then became clear it was about a lot more than that - about the loss of wild spaces, wildness within and without in quiet and impossible ways, how our rational, reasonable, logical minds are systematically destroying the mystery and chaos of nature, what looks like something that needs to be tamed but is actually here to teach us how to be on this earth. Layer after layer was unearthed and now, after it's premiere in Perth presented by and Boola Bardip, we have continued to deepen the work and it will be presented one more time in Perth. JOB OPPORTUNITY: CHILDREN’S CAST CHAPERONE
Too Close to the Sun are seeking a dynamic, grounded, and caring person to join our team as a children’s chaperone for the upcoming theatre production, Zoology in Perth as part of APAM.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and feels at home in a creative, movement-led environment.
About you:
• You have experience working with children
• You have a dance/movement background, or are a performer with movement training
• You’re calm, attentive, playful when needed, and great at holding space
• You can support young cast members through rehearsals & production with care and clarity
The role:
• Supporting and chaperoning child cast members during rehearsals & production
• Being part of a professional, collaborative rehearsal & production process
• Helping maintain a safe, focused, and positive environment
Details:
• $30 per hour
• Dates: 11 February – 27 February
• Hours will vary across the rehearsal & production period; details to be provided on engagement
• Location: Perth
