🚨 US attempts to silence Cuba at the UN
On 30 June, failed..136 countries voted in favour of Cuba, 9 voted against and 30 abstained included Australia which is a shame.
The United Nations will debate the devastating humanitarian impact of the Trump administration’s escalating economic warfare against the island.
The vote to open the debate goes ahead despite the US instructions from Secretary of State Marco Rubio to US embassies to pressure governments to oppose it.
❌ Vote against the debate
❌ Stay silent if they won’t support the US position
❌ Avoid statements defending Cuba – with warnings that their comments could affect relations with Washington.
At a time when millions of Cubans are facing shortages of food, fuel and medicines, the US is not only tightening its economic siege but also trying to prevent the international community from discussing its consequences.
🕊️ Cuba’s call deserves to be heard. The world must reject intimidation and stand for peace, sovereignty and international law.

The Cuba for Unionists event held in Boorloo/Perth on Saturday attracted a good number of union activists at the local Trades Hall Centre. The gathered listened to a panel of trade union activists recount their first hand Cuban experience. The Cuba after Castro documentary by Abby Martin & Matt Belen was well received and provided viewers a close up with Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel a child of the revolution. A pledge to increase solidarity with the Cuban people and their right to self determination.
