Join the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society, ACFS for the Perth screening of Abby Martin & Matt Belen's documentary featuring an exclusive interview to Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel. His begginings and views of Cuba's struggle for self determination against the 60+ year-long criminal US blockade on socialist Cuba. This is a fundraising event for our current project in the province of Guantanamo. Solar panels and battery to run a community child care centre.

Solidarity is not a crime!
STATEMENT OF THE CUBAN INSTITUTE OF FRIENDSHIP WITH THE PEOPLES

Havana, 8 June 2026

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and its
affiliated company, Amistur S.A., categorically denounce the infamous and unjustified inclusion of both entities in the "Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List" of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury.

This absurd designation constitutes an act of political hostility
based on slander, intended to justify the tightening of the
economic siege against our country and to undermine the deep
bonds of friendship that unite the Cuban people with the people
of the United States and with members of our patriotic Cuban
community residing in that country.

The new measure forms part of a strategy of maximum aggression
against Cuba, in which coercion and the extraterritorial application
of the blockade have intensified to unprecedented levels this year.
The executive orders of 29 January and 1 May, together with
pressure from the United States government to cut off economic
revenues and fuel supplies to our country, have the explicit aim of
creating a humanitarian crisis and demonstrate the genocidal
nature of this policy.

The accusations made by Washington against ICAP are
completely false. The United States government seeks to
stigmatise our institution by claiming, without basis, that it is an
"agency that supports a malicious campaign to subvert and
destabilise the national security of the United States." The State
Department has also slandered ICAP by accusing it of "spreading
the radical ideology of the Cuban regime abroad."

It is also profoundly hypocritical for a government that has spent
billions of dollars of US taxpayers' money openly seeking to
subvert Cuba's political and economic system to target ICAP,
whose sole mission throughout its 65 years of existence has been
to promote understanding, respectful cooperation and genuine
bonds of friendship between the peoples of the world and Cuba.

ICAP reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the just causes of
the world's peoples, its condemnation of the policies of economic
strangulation and financial persecution that have inflicted such
accumulated harm on Cuban families, and its absolute
determination to continue building bridges of solidarity in the face
of walls of hatred. We also reaffirm that neither this coercive
measure nor any other act of intimidation will deter or diminish
the work of ICAP and Amistur.

We demand the immediate removal of our institutions from this
spurious list and the definitive end to the military threats and
economic warfare being imposed on Cuba.

We also call upon all friendship and solidarity organizations with
Cuba to reject this attempt to criminalize solidarity and to further
strangle the noble Cuban people.

Australia-Cuba Friendship Society WA hosted the premiere of Abby Martin & Matt Belen's Cuba after Castro. An interview to president Miguel Diaz-Canel, the making of a leader dealing with yet another serious military threat by the Trump regime.
More than 40 people expressed their solidarity with Raul Castro and the Cuban people. They demand the lifting of the criminal US blockade to stop the collective punishment of an entire people.
Best wishes were also sent to Raul Castro on his upcoming 95th birthday on 3rd June.

ACFS Perth activists demanded outside the US consulate the end of the criminal blockade that affects every Cuban family.
The blockade aims at regime change. The people of Cuba decided for freedom and independence in January 1959.
The majority of countries in the world voted against this act of war at the UN General Assembly with 165 voted for the elimination of this unlawful policy in October 2025.
