Triune God โ€“ Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

You show us the essence of true community, perfect relationship. You call us to be like you, living in selfless, self-giving love toward one another.

As a movement you united us with the richness and resources of three denominations, calling us to live out a vision of reconciliation, discipleship, justice and mission. You made us a family and gave us a purpose.

Yet we confess that we have not lived up to this great calling. We have trusted in structures more than your Spirit, preserved institution while neglecting the great commission, and guarded our identity more than our calling.

We have strived for unity, but often in our own strength. We have embraced diversity, but often at the expense of embracing you in our midst.

Yet you are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Turn us again to yourself. Revive your Church by your Spirit, renew our witness, and restore us to the mission of Christ in the world.

God of selfless love, make us one. Come and correct that which is erroneous in our life, bring us into deeper unity with other Churches, and by the power of your unifying Spirit, use our worship, witness and service so that Jesus may be glorified among us and through us.
Amen.

In the awesome name of God,
In the victorious name of Jesus,
In the mysterious name of the Spirit,
We offer our thanks and praise to the communion of God, and we wait;
We are still (light first candle),
We listen (light second candle),
We wait (light third candle).

God of all time, you create us, gift us and call us to be co-workers in the creative tasks of bringing love, hope, justice and transformation to a broken world.

Gracious God, we wait for the sounds of your presence amongst us, trusting that you never leave us without witnesses, teachers, prophets and peace makers. Help us to listen for the voices of our First Peoples, of Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, of Northern Regional Council of Congress, congregations in remote communities, and all those who seek to hear your call and celebrate your presence in their lives.

Merciful God, we wait for the sounds of discipleship, trusting in your provision of generous hospitality, patient endeavour and courageous activity. Help us to listen for the voices of caretakers, cleaners, chaplains and friends. We give thanks for all those children and young people who seek to hear your call and celebrate your presence in their lives.

Wisdom God, we wait for the sounds of leadership, trusting in your invitation to be community, to gather around your table, share a simple meal, break open your word and feel pain. Help us to listen to the voices of those who protest, write letters, campaign, advocate and pray. We give thanks for our agencies, Uniting World, Uniting Care, Frontier Services and all those who seek to hear your call and celebrate your presence in their lives.

Shaped by the breaking of bread and the gushing of wine, God opens our minds, touches our heart and calls us to participate together in His divine presence.

Thanks be to God,
Amen.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026 ๐Ÿƒ
Rev Ken Devereux, Chairperson of the Presbytery of WA shares a message and prayer for World Environment Day, 5 June.
-
โ€˜Global warmingโ€™ and โ€˜data centresโ€™ were not part of the vocabulary when the inaugural national Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia made its first โ€˜Statement to the Nationโ€™ in 1977. But the environment was already a clear matter of interest and concern for the new denomination.
The fledgling Uniting Church declared โ€œWe are concerned with the basic human rights of future generations and will urge the wise use of energy, the protection of the environment and the replenishment of the earthโ€™s resources for their use and enjoyment.โ€
Now, almost 50 years later we are called to affirm those commitments by pressing for further bold decisions that re-align our sources and use of energy, that re-focus our local, national and global approaches to protecting the environment from the increasing threats of global heating. This involves challenging many existing assumptions about transport, lifestyle and fossil fuel-based industries that are reaching critical tipping points through the damaging greenhouse gases they emit.
These are not just matters for politicians, economists, or boards of multi-national corporations to deal with. People of faith, with a trust in God as creator and sustainer also have the privilege and responsibility of contributing to policy making and public outcomes.
On World Environment Day 2026 as the United Nations urges us to take seriously โ€œA Global Call for Climate Actionโ€ letโ€™s refresh our personal and church-based responses.

Please adapt this prayer for your situation:

โ€œGod our creator, thank you for the amazing riches of our natural home, the precious world that sustains us.
May we see with fresh eyes the beauty, complexity and the wonder of the local and global eco-systems that provide for our needs.
May we discern truth through the haze of information overload, mis-information and greenwashing, that enables us to truly take into account the damage that unpredictable extreme weather events are already causing to tiny island communities across the Pacific as well as to enormous continental landscapes affected by heatwaves and droughts.
May the past benefits of coal and gas extraction, utilisation and export not blind us to the urgent need to transition to wider availability of renewable energy sources.
May the calls expressed in the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty be taken seriously, especially as Australia has a special role in chairing the next UN COP31 later this year.
As we walk in the footsteps of Jesus, may we be good neighbours to those people and creatures who are most vulnerable to the present impacts of climate change, as well as recognising that all people and creatures will be affected if present trends continue.
By your grace, stir me and enable me to play my part. Amen."

Life, Abundantly - UnitingWorld's End of Financial Year Appeal

In Sumba, eastern Indonesia, families like Semis's forage in the forest when the harvest runs short. They work hard for their food security, yet subsistence farming families are among the most exposed people in the world to global economic and environmental shocks, paying the highest price for a crisis they did nothing to cause.
This is not the life God intends for anyone.
Through Uniting Church partners in Sumba and across the Pacific, Asia and Africa, communities are building food security and lasting livelihoods, led from within. Together we can help end the cycle of poverty and hunger in the worldโ€™s poorest places.
Until 30 June, every gift is combined with funding from the Australian Government to have up to six times the impact.

On Friday 22 May, the Pinjarra Uniting Church came alive with music, fellowship, and inspiring stories as it hosted its annual Uniting Church Adult Fellowship (UCAF) โ€œAt Homeโ€ function.
The morning was a beautiful reminder of the power of community, bringing together local voices and shedding light on the vital chaplaincy work happening right in our backyard.

God of many Talanoas (stories) and witness,

As we celebrate 49 years of the Uniting Church, we give thanks for the communities that have shaped us. For congregations gathered in bustling cities and regionals towns, for elders who carried faith before us, and for new voices continuing to breathe fresh life into Your Church.

You created us in your image, to love one another just as much as you love us.

At Pentecost, Your Spirit moved among many languages, many peoples, many ways of hearing and understanding; all were drawn together by the good news of Christ.

Teach us to see diversity not as a barrier, but as a gift. Where fear or difference divides, make us people who choose welcome. Where others feel unseen or excluded, teach us to widen the circle with grace.

We pray for the whole Uniting Church. For every community seeking to live out Your love across cultures, generations, and places. May we continue becoming a Church where each person is honoured, where every voice matters, and where belonging is shaped not by sameness, but by the grace of Christ.

God, we thank you that we are united in You, that our diverse nature is created in your image and may you empower us to be people called to welcome all.

We pray in the mighty name of Jesus,

Amen.

Spirit of the living God,
we come as your people, Pilgrims of the Spirit;
a Church on the move,
trusting that you are already at work among us.

Across this wide land,
and from our life together in Victoria and Tasmania,
we give thanks for the many ways your Spirit is stirring;
in congregations and communities,
in ministries of care, justice, and witness,
in voices both strong and quiet,
calling your Church forward.

You call us into relationship;
with one another, with this land,
and with the First Peoples who have held story, faith, and wisdom across generations.
Teach us to listen more deeply;
not only to what is familiar, but to the voices we have not yet fully heard.
Shape us as a covenant people,
committed to truth, shared responsibility, and faithful action.

Christ who gathers us,
you remind us that we are not who we are in isolation.
We belong to one another.
And so we ask:
where are we yet to listen?
Who is present among us, but not yet heard?
And what is your Spirit inviting your Church to become?

As Pilgrims of the Spirit,
lead us beyond what is known and comfortable,
into the wider life of your kingdom;
where diversity is honoured,
belonging is nurtured,
and unity is shaped in love.

Renew your Church,
that we may listen with humility,
walk with courage,
and share in your work of justice, healing, and hope.

And in this season of prayer,
bind us together as one;
one Church, many voices,
held in the grace of Christ,
and led always forward by your Spirit.

Amen.
